Kids are the only ones who usually get something. We all do a gag gift and ONE secret Santa gift. Grandparents get everyone something but we as adult children do not- that is for extended family. They all came to us one year and asked for no presents from us and to spend it on our children.

We did a secret Santa thing with a $35 limit for DH's family. With 5 boys all but one married and that one has a gf, there are just too many to buy gifts for. We finally decided to just buy for the kids, there will be 5 at Christmas this year. For the 2 couples that don't have kids, we can buy for their pets (I don't think either couple will have kids ever).

We cut off the presents when they turn 18. SUre we give for graduations, weddings, sometimes for anniversaries.

we do gifts for the kids, not for the adults... but b4 ds there were only a set of twins that fell into that kid category.. so I would buy for my parents, and my aunt who has been really close to me since forever. Now I do a dollar store stocking and put odds and ends in them and ship them (everyone lives in either NY or FL)... My husband has always bought for his younger brothers who are both older and in college now, so I'm hoping this year we can get away with just getting them a combined gift (like a game that they both love) that all three of the brothers can play when they get brother time.
