I suppose. I mean, I was a little concerned just because I miscarried last time and had to retract my statement to a lot of ppl. But at 8 weeks along...and just feeling much better about this pregnancy, it might be a good idea to just get it over with.

I told my boss at 10 weeks. I was so sick and she started to think I was having issues. I just closed the door to her office and told her.
Now I'm about 18 weeks and just starting to show a little bit. No one thinks I'm pregnant and when we but baby things people ask if we're adopting. If it wasn't for being sick I could've waited, but it was such a relief to just tell her!!! And around then i was showing more too then it disappeared. I think it was bloating. It lasted about 8 days or so!
Good luck Hun!!!

Well, maybe I should wait then. I feel like it may be just bloating, but I've also heard you show a lot sooner with your second kid. But again, i'm only 8 weeks! UGH...so frustrating I really don't know what to do!

Well, one job I was 6 months when I got the job so it was pretty obvious at the second interview-- I think after the 1st one they may have thought I was just big-- but I wore maternity dress to second one and it was obvious. For DS, I don't remember-- weird that is the most recent. I found out just before I went on vacation and I think I may have done it when I got back-- I wasn't that far yet-- I was one day late and tested to find out before 2 days before we left-- and we were going to an all inclusive resort in Mexico-- got the strangest looks when I would ask for something without alcohol-- I was 4 1/2 weeks in a 2 piece suit and all the bar guys would ask twice-- I would pat bely and say baby and then it was no problem-- guess I went off on tangent. I think I announced DS sooner because I was deemed high risk due to advanced maternal age-- I was 37 so I was going to be having extra appts

This is my second pregnancy and I felt bigger too, but it wore off! DH kept saying he couldn't tell at all and I was losing my mind thinking I was so big. Lol. Have you asked DH if he sees a difference?!

I showed sooner with the second but I did notice both with the first and second pregnancy that right around 6-8 weeks I looked pregnant for a few weeks and then I got smaller afterward. I have seen it happen to a lot of pregnant women. It is bloat and other stuff. The uterus doesn't move up above the belly button until around 20 weeks and at 12 weeks it is just below it. When you have a second pregnancy or more the abdominal muscles are loosened much more and don't fight as much to stay in place so they relax more. The more relaxed the muscles the more any extra water weight will show in early pregnancy.

I swear with my second pregnancy I took the test, saw the plus sign, and immediately "plooop!" out went my belly and my pants would no longer fit. Hah! Whereas with the first one, it took longer to show. So yep, I think it's very normal. And if you don't want to say you're pregnant, then just ignore it, wear looser-fitting clothing, and let people think you gained a little bit of weight over the holidays. Then when you announce it, people will understand. But I wouldn't feel pressured to announce it if you'd rather not.

Thanks ladies. I think I'll wait a few more weeks and just let my boss think i'm getting bigger lol. if it really becomes an issue before week 12, I'll tell him but it's just too early for comfort for me so far.

I think that women tend to be self conscious when we are pregnant. I remember being convinced I was showing in a formal dress at 10 weeks....it felt tighter, but everyone said I looked great (only a couple people knew we were expecting at that point and I was afraid others would find out). My one friend did say my breasts looked bigger, but that she wouldn't have noticed if I wasn't pregnant.
I don't think your boss or co-workers are looking as closely at how your pants and shirts fit to suspect you are pregnant. If I were in your shoes I would wait a month or so longer.
I told my supervisor at 7 or 8 weeks, but it was b/c she was a) a good friend and b) knew we were going through infertility treatment and c) guessed when I ordered just water at a lunch meeting (I like diet soda but diet fountain soda has sacchrin so I didn't drink it when pregnant)

speaking of the work situation, I remember feeling like I had the obligation to tell my supervisor that we were expecting.. partly for my safety in working with clients with behavioral issues... and I think she one said that the sooner she finds out the sooner she can start training... I just took that as I was irreplacable lol

I'm betting it's multiples of some sort. That is what happened to me. I knew there was a difference right away than other pregancies. Also as I had a hx of trouble staying pregnant, I had a urine and blood test right away, and they told me it might be multiples (up to triplets) based on the level of Hcg for how early I was. I was about 6 weeks when they did the ultrasound and found fraternal twins. I also was morning sick from nearly right away. It was intense. I also started showing much earlier than normal - something like 6-7 weeks. I also noticed that I could not eat enough protein and certain types of fruit. I dreamed of steaks and blackberries, chicken and mangoes. Weird, weird, weird. If you are having multiples, don't worry. It's not as bad as people like to make it. It's just really expensive -- so start budgeting right away if you find out it's twins or more.

Thank you eliza!!!! We would actually love to have multiples. Twins would be great! Triplets...meh...I might be ok on that. lol but we'll find out on wednesday what the situation is, and if it is twins, i'll be telling my boss immediately. A friend of mine made a good point to me this weekend (thanks vic hehe) and said that if I tell them now, then at least they can't fire me. Not that I'm concerned, but it's some assurance. As far as the self-conscious thing goes...I know I'm showing at this point...I can't fit into ANY of my jeans without having to have it bubble over. I'm a pretty small girl (5 foot 1) so I think at that point I have to tell myself to lay off the ice cream...or just accept the fact that I'm bloated, and possibly showing already. None the less, I think my decision has changed from waiting, to letting my boss know sooner. That way there's no more stress about it!
