Llama llama books are always a hit here. Otherwise both my boys are really into the books that have doors that flip open. Ds1 likes search and find books too!

my 8 year old loves reading anything - he's such a sponge. He's reading a Hardy Boys mystery right now. My 2 yr old loves "Ten Busy Buzzy Bugs" right now and anything with Elmo.

Aren't those AG series good, Sharon? We used to read them out loud when the girls were at that stage. Benny was just little but he remembers listening to them! I miss reading to the kids...
Alice and Benny are my readers... Benny LOVES car trips to Fergus cuz he gets uninterupted reading time!! LOL. He achieved his Sept reading quota for Communications early, so his teacher told him he could start logging for Oct. He's already done with October! LOL!!! He planned ahead for the ND trip and got 2 books from the library!

They are good! I was surprised. I have heard the newest ones are not as good. We read Rebecca and that was great too. We read the first Julie but he didn't want to keep going. It may have been too modern for his sensibilities or maybe just too sports centered. Not sure. And I'm sorry but when did the 70's become history n I'm not sure wenare there yet! Lol!
He is talking about Josefina or Addy next. What time period is Samantha?
That's so great that Benny's such a reader! I wasn't as a kid and always feel I missed out.

DS loves going to the library and picking out new books (in addition to our collection of tons of children's books). His current favorite series is Berenstain Bears - they have good lessons and he remembers them.
DS likes to memorize books so he will usually have us read him a book a few days in a row.

We just began The War Within, which is historical fiction. It's about a Jewish girl in the South during the Civil War. I just read it myself and the whole time kept thinking how much Ian would like it. So as soon as I was done we started over together!

Ian picked out The Fourth Apprentice, from the Warriors series by Erin Hunter. It's fantasy series about cats who live in Clans, have their own culture, religion, etc. It's been interesting so far. It's a thick book, like HP thick, and like HP is geared toward 10 year olds, so I didn't know if he would follow it, but we are 3 chapters in and he seems to be getting it. He's very excited about it actually and brought it to school today just to show people the cover and tell them about it. If he likes it we are good for a while - I think there are 18 books in the series, and then another series by the same author.

The House At Pooh Corner was the first chapter book we read. The Ramona books are fun and simple too.
