Unless you've been living under a rock, I'm sure you've heard all the hype about the world ending on Dec 21, 2012. There's a lot of speculation about how this is supposed to happen. Some believe certain planets are going to line up causing a disruption with our planet; others believe the world is just going vanish into a black hole; and of course there's the theory that there will be some sort of "rapture". What do you think about all of this? Do you believe the world is going to end?

I know this sounds a little irrational, but for some reason this has always scared me! Plus, it doesn't help that the world is supposed to end on my birthday lol. I do think that "something" is going to happen, but I don't know if it's going to be apocalyptic or not. I also think that the world's geography is going to change a little bit, there has been so many earthquakes in the past few years, especially in the "ring of fire".

There have been several "end of the world" dates that have come and gone. Around the turn of every century this comes up. When there is a war going on, people thing the end of the world is coming. The fact that everyone "knows" that this is the end of the world proves that it isn't.
We are at the end of an ice age (remember how dinosaurs mostly lived in tropical climates, as far north as us). The poles have been shifting at a faster rate every year, it's possible that they'll flip soon. We are due for several large things to happen, but who knows when they'll go? Earthquakes and volcanoes have not been going off like they sometimes do, so we're due for them.
People might actually get human rights all over the world! OMG now that would be the end of the world, no one being better than others!
But having to hoard food and water is not on my to do list this year.

I don't believe any of that stuff! If it is the end there isn't anything anyone could do about it so why stress over it!

So true, Lil! I have seen way too many "end of world" movies, so my irrational fear is that we'll end up every person for themselves, and I don't want my son to ever have to deal with that!!

HATE end of the world movies--won't watch them. I don't think anyone knows or can pre-determine the demise of the world. It's not something a think or worry about because it's beyond my control.

I used to really fear it, to be honest. I guess I just get scared it will be some horrible fire/explosion kind of thing and the thought of being away from my kids when it happened or not being able to protect them really scared me. As the years go by and I get older, I doubt it more and more and feel like I should just not think about it because it's out of my hands.

I feel like ... I don't know, any day could be our last day, we just don't know when "our" day will come. So for me, I just have faith and try to live each day to its fullest and be a good, kind person.
I once heard an expert-type person say that when the Mayan calendar ends, it doesn't END end. It just flips over, like our annual flip from December to January. It starts again. So those people who say the world ends aren't even accurate anyway ... hope that makes you feel better!!

I don't beleive the "end of the world" is coming. I do think like cake said we are do for something big. Maybe it will be a war the Korea considering the threat of nuclear weapons. There isn't much we can do about it though so I try not to worry about it. I also try not to watch the news because it is depressing and full of dooms days stories! LOL

Only God knows when the world is gonna end. But I do think that the world will see some major catastrophic events from mother nature... those scare me more, because we become vulnerable to what we cannot control ff

I used to be so scared of the "end of the world"...I guess until I became a Christian and found out that no one knows the time, or the day. Not even the Mayans. So regardless of what theories may be out there, whenever that day comes, no one will be prepared.

Oooh good question Sarah! I should mention that I'm not scared of a sudden end of the world, everybody goes instantly scenario, but rather something major happening, all hell breaks loose and my son is stranded with no one to care for him...
