Robie Harris has a newish book (2011) - Who Has What? All About Girls' Bodies and Boys' Bodies. We love her series about bodies and sexuality and have added her 3 for older kids to our library over the years, but this one is a very basic book for a toddler or young preschooler. I highly recommend it.

Ian and I recently read Home of the Brave and both loved it. It's about a boy about Ian's age who comes to Minnesota from Sudan and his experiences getting used to life here. It was just amazing - hopeful and heartbreaking and funny and joyous all at the same time. And it really gave Ian and new appreciation for the immigrant experience. I can't recommend it enough.

The Quiltmaker's Gift by Jeff Brumbeau I love this story! It's a new favorite for our family. It's about a greedy king who demands that a quiltmaker make him one of her beautiful quilts, but she refuses because she only gives her quilts to people who have a need. She tells him he has to give away all of his belongings and become poor to get one--of course he doesn't want to do that but eventually he thinks he'll give it a try and -- you'll see what happens if you read the book! c1.bookworm.com/images/products/p/hp/hp-1477_1t.jpg

My mom makes quilts so we particularly adore this book. I actually should buy a copy for my mom, I think she'd like that.

Do you know The Keeping Quilt? You might like that too.
Also - not kids' books, but do you read Sandra Dallas? She writes really great historical fiction and her characters tend to quilt.
