Where is DH going to be working? Stillwater to Minneapolis is a vast distance difference for a commute.

DH will be working in Eagan. I googled mapped the address and it said a 25 min commute. Right now his commute is over an hour.

He will be happy with most anywhere then. Woodbury is a lovely area with good schools as is Edina. That 25 minutes though doesn't take into consideration traffic. Rush hour can get pretty messy--especially in the winter. Sharon has lots of St. Paul knowledge for school ideas.

My friend has twins who will be starting kindergarten in Stillwater district next fall, she has been pleased w/ orientation process....but when they say 25 min, they mean driving time not commute. It is 25 min from Stillwater to Eagan from 9:30a-2:00p probably but during morning rush 6a-9a and evening rush 3p-6p it will take significantly longer.

probablly an hour.. my husband drives a similar route and it gets nasty in the AM.. especially in the winter. We WISH we would've bought closer to his work when we were looking for a home!!!

The times on mapquest or google maps are "best conditions". We don't have best conditions here in Minnesota.

lol.. I was just thinking that.. google doesnt consider road construction a season here.. it should... and paired with a normally looong winter, you can almost quadruple your drive time.

I just wanted to add that you are NOT driving us crazy and should keep asking. There are moms here from many places and all are glad to share what they know. I know we would all just love to help you find your new home!

We live in Atlanta. Trust me when I say we know bad traffic. A ride that takes 35 min took me 2 hours when I was working full time. Ideally we want to find a home closer to the office. I am going insane looking at houses and not having a clue on schools, area, options. Ugh!

It must be overwhelming for you, Camilla. Take a look at Roseville area. It is very close to both St Paul and Minneapolis (10 min away from both downtowns). It has good schools.

I would also recommend looking at Mendota Heights, West St. Paul, Highland Park neighborhood in St. Paul, and Inver Grove Heights. All are close to Eagan (significantly closer than Stillwater!), beautiful neighborhoods and good schools as well!

I will keep that in mind. The rental world is not as deep in MSP as it is here in Atlanta. It would be easier if we were looking to buy. Ugh!

Ah, didn't realize you were looking to rent. That does make it more complicated. Good luck.
