Sharon, for those who view the bahavior of same sex couples as acceptable/normal, the laws would seem unfair if not changed but for those who view the behavior as immoral, it is not about the fairness of the law but love/service toward God and sister/brother. Actually, I do think a lot is tied with religion and 'religion' can be just about anything depending whom you serve or what God you believe in.

Vic, that is the point. All marriages should be treated the same and gayness is a natural part of any set of animals on this planet, having seen it in a few species myself. If we can't allow gay people to be "married" then other groups shouldn't be allowed a "marriage" either.
The one woman I was talking to had an issue because it was being called a "marriage" and she believes that only those of opposite gender should be biblically "married". I was just trying to wrap my head around that one belief.
I don't understand what God has to do with anything. It's one book that one part of the people in the States believe in. So only the Christian values are the ones that we should hold as important and we should disregard all other belief systems to make a fraction of the people happy with their beliefs? What about those who don't believe in any type of god(s)? Their beliefs aren't valued either because they don't believe in any deity?
I guess I'm trying to open my mind to other people's point of view, no matter how much I may disagree with that point of view, and on the opposite end am hoping that others will see my point of view, even if they'll never agree with me.
I thought we were all allowed our opinions of how life should be run and that others shouldn't be dictating how we should be allowed to live our lives. Last time I checked the United States constitution allowed for freedom to enjoy our liberty and life. This particular state amendment goes against that particular federal amendment.

Eliza there are many behaviors that my religion considers immoral, although marriage isn't one of them. Should I have those things written into the Constitution? Why or why not?
Is there anything else your religion considers immoral? Will you be working on having those things written into the Constitution? Why or why not?

IMO, church and state should be kept seperate. I am so against this becoming an amendment it isn't funny. Just because you love someone of the same sex you shouldn't be singled out and not have the same rights as those who love someone of the opposite sex.

Elisa these were honest questions I had, and I hope you will answer them. I'm not trying to make trouble for you, but just trying to understand the thinking behind what you are saying.
