I honestly don't know where I come down on this. But I also hadn't thought about the whole concept of second hand smoke. I HATE when people can smoke cigarettes near others and people are forced to breath it. I was so glad when smoking in restaurants and such became illegal here. So I certainly don't want to open the door to that again. But I do think it a doctor feels it will be helpful to something they should have it. Does it being legal in those two states mean anyone can use it at any time? No minimun age or prescription required or anything?

I support it 100%. First of all, they can tax the hell out of it and it would do wonders for the economy. Second, it's the "safest drug" out there. It has nowhere near the devastating effects that tobacco and alcohol have, in fact it doesn't have any at all. There has never been a single reported case that someone died from illnesses directly related to marijuana, nor has there ever been a report of someone overdosing on it. The government has scared us into believing that it is a gateway drug, but frankly it isn't.
When Amsterdam legalized it, their crime rate drastically lowered. I have been there several times, and everyone is really discreet about it. People don't just walk around the streets smoking weed. They either do it in the cafe's, or in the privacy of their own home.
I honestly believe we won't hear any negative news about this as time goes on...

The other positives in addition to what Irish said about being able to tax it, is that legal marijuana will be safer than illegal marijuana in that it won't be mixed with other things.

I'm with Sharon on this one. I'm not sure what to think. To me pot has always been "bad." So I have predisposition to deal with. We will see how it plays out.

I am for legalization but have a.ways wondered the effect is has on driving? I too worry about people smoking it in public because I personally think its gross a d don't want to smell it or have a contact high from the chemicals.
I don't think legalizing pot will prevent any issues with driving while drinking. People will still drink. Pot won't ever stop people from drinking..it's not a choose your drug kind of thing. Alcohol will always be legal it will always exist.
