My dh was working on dd's ears last night. She got her ears pierced in Sept. roughly 7 weeks ago she had changed her earrings so we put her original earrings in again last night. She hadn't turned or cleaned her ears much while having the 2nd pair of earrings in. She said last night while messing w/ her ears that it was hurting a little. When all done she passed out. It scared me. I shrieked a tiny bit. When she came out of it she cried dh put her on our island held her then I was holding her she said her ears hurt a little & her tummy too. He thought he had the one too tight so he loosened it. We made sure she was ok b4 we put her to bed. It was scarey. I don't remember the last time I saw someone pass out. We also made her happy we a homemade cookie made that day.

Not sure yet she is still sleeping she is a late sleeper almost every day. I peeked on her once this morning after I checked to see if ds was awake yet for school.

Dh thought I overreacted. My baby girl fell to the floor when she passed out. I guess dh passes out once in awhile which I didn't know I have never seen him pass out.

Sounds like she may have a bit of a cold happening, but watch those ears. Kids at that age do not take care of themselves well. Help her get the alcohol on the ears and make sure they don't get infected! I hope that she's better today. <3

Thanks Cake. I think I will help her or remind her for awhile again. No I would not want her to have infections in the ears.

I'd keep an eye on her today. It does seem a little strange that she would pass out just from having her earrings changed.

My neice used to be this way when she first got her ears pierced. If she had a hard time getting the back off the earing and it started to hurt or if she had a slight infection and she needed to clean it, she would get very light headed. Someone always had to be with her when she did any cleaning to her ears. Now it doesn't bother her at all.
I would keep a close eye on her. If it makes you feel better, you could always call the nurse at your doctor's office and mention it to them and see what they have to say.

I just peeked on her she is still sleeping, but she seems ok. I will ask her how her ears are or how she is feeling when she gets up. I will keep an eye on her today while she is home.

Either grossed out or it was painful. I don't blame you for re-acting. It's scary the first time that happens. My kids all 3 passed out as infants, toddlers and preschoolers when they cried super hard or were hurt. It was pretty freaky.
I was going to mention that when I had my ears pierced and DD as well, we changed earrings after 6 weeks but always put the starter studs back in at night. They are bigger and just maintain the holes better for a while. It also assured that the ears got cleaned every day.

At least she is still little enough to catch. I passed out on my mother as a teenager in the bathroom. Had she not been there to catch me, I would have cracked my head on the toilet.

Yikes, that would be upsetting! I agree with the above--keep an eye on her today, and keep pestering her about getting those ears cleaned every day without fail. When they get infected they hurt!!!

This happened to one of my daycare kids while she was here. She had recently gotten her ears pierced, she was 7 at the time, and her and my DD were playing around and one of her earrings got caught and the hole started bleeding a bit. I took her into the bathroom and tried cleaning it but needed to take the earring out. They were the starter ones so they were harder to get out. I was struggling to get it out and she was watching in the mirror and went completely limp. I caught her and sat down on the floor with her while she came too, moved her to the chair and put a cold rag on her forehead. She was pretty shook up over the whole ordeal but in the end she was fine

make sure she drinks enough- I have passed out due to low blood pressure and dehydration can contribute to that-- just an FYI
