I have a hard time answering this question. Looking back I read SO MANY really great books this year, among them:
Picture The Dead The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks Darkride The Five People You Meet In Heaven At The Entrance To The Garden Of Eden Prayers For Sale The Diary of Mattie Spencer The Red Pyramid
But if have to pick just one it's - The Dovekeepers
I only hope I read as many great books in 2013.

Unfortunately I have read too many books for school and not enough books for fun in 2012.
So probably the best non-school book was: Blueprint for Building Better Girls

Recently read Jodi Picoult's Lone Wolf. Started Shades of Grey. Not sure why book is so wonderful to so many yet -- as not really liking some of the control stuff going on towards main woman character in regards to sex -- seems kinda like abuse towards women disguised as soft porn. But not sure yet -- But maybe that will be different further along? Probably going to read the Year of Magical Thinking soon. Some other books too.

It's hard to choose!!! Goodness. Here's a list of the top ones that are coming to mind:
The Dovekeepers (historical drama) The Wet Nurse's Tale (historical drama) The Shoemaker's Wife (historical drama) Insurgent (Book #2 in the Divergent series -- kind of Hunger Games-esque) The Innocent (action movie type book) Heaven is for Real (spiritual non-fiction)
