Thanks Everyone!
I went to the OB today and had my first ultrasound. Ultrasound puts be at about 6 weeks along and we got a heartbeat! The heartbeat was on the low side at 99 beats per minute (bpm). Because of my miscarriage history the doctor is concerned and putting me on a low dose of aspirin which, in new studies, has been shown to help prevent miscarriages by thinning out the blood to prevent blood clots in the placenta. AnywaY!... Any of you had low early fetal heart beats?

Congrats Samantha! You have inspired me to call the doctor tomorrow, I got a positive pregnancy test last week! I am not sure how soon to make an appointment? I am a very regular person so when I missed the monthly visit last week I waited a few days, took a test and it came back positive! It is hard to be excited about a positive when I got one last time (about 6 months ago) and then got my AF a day later. On Friday, I will be 5 weeks. What do they do at the first appointment?

It depends where you go. They usually will schedule you for a nurse visit around 8 weeks for blood work, weight check - stuff like that. Some clinics require an early prenatal class. Then around 12 weeks you actually see a doctor. That all changes if you've had miscarriages in the past though. But it's best to call now and start prenatal vitamins ASAP!

Thanks for the update....glad to hear that there was a heartbeat, will continue to think positive thoughts for your and this pregnancy.
I had an ultrasound at 7wks and can't remember what the heartbeat was, I have no idea anymore what is normal or not for pregnancy and baby stages. I hope the aspirin works for you.

I just got back from the doctor with pretty good news. The heart rate went from 99 bpm last week to 137 bpm this week which is great and the baby is growing accordingly. Downside, there is a very small amount of hemorrhaging between the placenta and uterine wall, its so small the doctor isn't worried about it. It will cause me to spot a bit which is making me worry but I'm going to try to remain optimistic.
