Has anybody done Curves? I'm really thinking about it because the sign up fee is only 39 bucks.
Did it work for you? Do you like it? Any advice?

Can't believe I missed this post (I was in Fl. though)
I am probably going to go back to curves after the holidays are over. I loved loved loved it. I got lots of personal attention from the people who work there... the other women were always really nice... there were never a lot of people there at one time... and I was more apt to go because of those reasons... and I like the circuit training...
downside... probably just the hours! Which one would you be going to ??

it's also good for people who have trouble with their knees or back (and I have both) you can skip a certain circuit if it hurts too much or work up your strength and come back to it a month later.... I sustained no injuries lol

I had curves for awhile. It was hard for me to get their w/ DH's work sched and where my mom was living (for daycare reasons). I didn't make it there as often as I would have liked. However, when I did I loved the workout setup, they played great music!!! and they even had stretches to help cool you down which I thought was really cool. Then the one by me closed and since I wasn't getting there I canceled my membership.

I belonged to curves when it first came out and it was awesome. I loved it. I tried going back a couple different times and it just didn't do much for me. I don't think I was as faithful as when I had first joined. I need to get back in the gym starting the first of the year...I pay for it and don't go

I personally didn't like Curves at all. I hated all of the changing of the machines, though I did like not having to fool around with weights. Plus the hours suck!
I would rather be on a machine and get out all of my anger at once.

Thanks for all the input ladies. I would really like to try it, but it is kind of expensive.

most health insurances will reinburse you 20 dollars a month (half the monthly fee) if you go three times per week/or 12 times per month. My health insurance through my husbands work, unfortunately is one of the only ones that doesn't participate.

I liked it for a while, it was quiet, not busy and easy, however, the hours were a little ridiculous and I didn't feel challenged a bit. I really like the YMCA.

I checked out the Y and it was over 100 buck a month for our family plus the sign up fee. Yikes.

I stay at home and we are by no means rich. I asked if they have any kind of scholarship program based on our income. They did! We pay 60 a month for our family membership.

We got to Gold's Gym for $20 per person (hubby and I) most Insurances covers most gym fees if you go at least 12 or 8 times a month. We've been happy there, I like the free studio classes like Zumba and Pilates and the hours work better than Curves places do for us, plus I am in walking distance to it and often walk/ride bikes there in the summer.
