Fall is here! I'm sitting in my pjs with a hoodie over the top. I guess I could close a few windows but I LOVE it. My family is freezing.

Yes - it is feeling like fall.
It's a hard time for figuring out what to send DS to school in. His classroom is so hot and it's supposed to get to the mid-70's, but it's chilly now. Hopefully he'll be fine in the shorts/sweatshirt he went in today.
DH and I are trying to figure out a 10th anniversary trip. Unfortunately it is the weekend of MEA and fall peak for colors - so things are booked or ridiculously expensive. Not sure we can justify a $1500 trip to the north shore.

I'm a huge fan of "just hang out" anniversary weekends. We find an out of the way place that no one cares to go to. We hang out, sleep late, find a park to go for walks, try restaurants, etc. Last year we stayed in a hotel in Anoka (http://www.comfortsuites.com/hotel-ramsey-minnesota-MN054) --wandered Riverdale, checked out the dam in Coon rapids, found a lovely park along the river for walks, drove around the countryside, wandered downtown Anoka, had great dinners at unique restaurants/dives.
That is our anniversary weekend too and it is 30 years! I think we're skipping a getaway though since we're going to Maryland for 3.5 weeks in December. We'll have plenty of alone time!

I really want to go to the North Shore at some point. I crazy miss the ocean, and that's as close as it gets. The plan was just to relax, sleep in, enjoy a fireplace, etc. I am just not willing to spend that kind of money for that. We might just get a hotel around here and do that.
My parents are lined up to come watch DS that weekend -- we thought about the fact that school was out for childcare but not for booking a hotel.

How about something on Lake Mille Lacs? It's huge, almost like an ocean. Might be cheaper than North Shore.

We've been searching places in Brainerd Lakes area.....I honestly have a hard time spending $$ to stay at a lake, when my parents have a lake place that we can go to for free. We often go there for our anniversary. So we may just switch places with my parents for the weekend.

I have a social work event tonight....it's ice cream but I don't feel like being social. Sometimes being in charge isn't fun.

Persistence is a nice way of putting it --- usually my parents and husband refer to it as stubborn!
Got my tooth fixed today - fortunately it did not need a crown! It's definitely sore though. I was able to stop and hang out with my niece and nephews and sister-in-law for about an hour after the dentist. The little guys were so cute. The almost 3 year old was jumping up and down when he saw my car and the 1 year old wanted lots of hugs and cuddles. It was good to hear from my niece about kindergarten.
Now home and getting caught up on the work I missed earlier.

You are very lucky it could be fixed without a crown! Where did you find lodging in two harbors? Always looking for options for a getaway.

We are going to Superior Shores - it is about 1/2 the cost of Bluefin Bay which we had been looking at. Of course prices range depending on what you want. We just got a room instead of a suite. I am excited to checkout Duluth, Two Harbors, the lighthouse and Gooseberry Falls --- and to read and relax.
My brother said it will need a crown eventually - it was my filling that cracked and not the tooth, so he drilled out the old filling and put in a new one. He said I owe him a night of babysitting.

We attended a wedding at Superior Shores several years ago. It looked like a lovely place. We didn't get much of a chance to look around as a storm was rolling thru the metro, kids were home alone, DD was freaking out, DS1 was being a poop. So, we left early and headed home.

My sister in law and niece were supposed to come hang out this weekend and we were going to help my sIL with a training run for the marathon in October. Her great-aunt died today so she may have to head to the funeral. So weekend plans are very much in flux. I like plans, I don't like in flux....but I get it and am trying to be helpful to my SIL in whatever way she needs.
