Howdy all! It has been super busy lately. At work and at home. Today DS1 has his first orthodontic appt. to have molds done of his mouth and get fitted for his future braces. They really are just for adjusting his jaw as he has both an underbite and a crossbite. If they fix it now they don't have to break his jaw to do it. As those parts of his jaw will fuse together by the time he's 15. Hopefully it goes smoothly. DS2 is heading back to the doc tomorrow as his tonsils are still huge and the abx doesn't appear to be doing anything for him. He goes back to the ENT on the 20th of November and if his tonsils are still huge at that point they will take them out along with his adnoids. See Crazy Busy Life!!
Hope everyone is doing well.

Good morning! The crazy busy work thing and refusal to give up fun with family and friends means my body is dragging today. Lungs are junky, which means I need more rest. No plans after DS swim lessons tonight.
Hope the jaw thing works out for your DS. My SIL had to have her jaw broken in her mid 20's and braces to correct the crossbite. Her orthodontist never caught it when she had braces growing up.

2 of my kids had expanders to correct their crossbites. Expander followed by limited braces to bring the front teeth back together. Then braces again several years later to correct the rest of the issues. Goodness.

Not looking forward to that for DS. He still hasn't lost any teeth though!

I'm in the same braces boat -- my 9YO is done with Round 1 of 2 already. I was shocked when she was 6 and the dentist referred us to an orthodontist! She had a crossbite and all sorts of issues. Thankfully that is taken care of, and now we'll just do the normal teeth-straightening round 2 when she's a teen.

Braces are so expensive, but so worth it. I am very thankful for straight teeth and no overbite.
Tonight we watched Tangled. Neither DS nor I had seen it before. Trying to catch up on some Disney movies before our trip. 5 weeks and counting!

Aww love Tangled!! . Yay for Disney countdown! Ugh don't know why I'm so unmotivated at work today. What is my problem?!? Maybe I'll take a quick 10-minute walk and see if I return with some energy & focus!

I am so tired. Lungs are still really junky. I need rest and it's hard when there is so much to do both at work and home. I had to back-burner a lot of things at work for this huge project and now need to catch up. But my home is a disaster and we don't have groceries, it's one of those weeks where even though I am home most nights after making dinner and getting DS to swimming, piano, and through homework I am just exhausted.

I'm sorry to hear that life is just exhausting right now. . I hate feeling that way, where everything is piling up and there just don't seem to be enough hours in the day - with no end in sight. Hang in there, delegate where possible and know you're not alone. Hope your lungs feel better ASAP!!

Thanks Renee. I am trying to delegate, but DH is crabby about helping right now. He has had to do more of the care for DS lately with my work schedule. the problem is he doesn't really clean or do big grocery/supply shopping. He'll do laundry and basic straightening. So now that the huge push for my project is over he is wanting to do his own thing. Which I want him to be able to do, it's just that all the house stuff is now so far behind and it feels like just a bad cycle.

Bummer Dara! Hope you get caught up soon and feel better.
We go back to the ENT tomorrow with DS2. His ped is very worried about him. His tonsils are a 3+ on a 4 scale. 4 being complete obstruction. She started him on steroids in hopes to shrink them a little, but, last time she tried it, it didn't work so I don't have very high hopes. Peditrician thinks his tonsils need to come out ASAP and she is getting pissed off at the ENT for not doing it. She even told us to have the ENT call her if he won't take them out this time. I feel bad for the kid. If he even tips his head back he can't breath. Makes sleeping a bit hard. Good think he happens to be a stomach sleeper.

It is such a delicate balance when both spouses are working so hard and both feel as though they need a break. How many days til Disney?!?!?
OOB - seriously your poor kiddo! I'm sure the ENT doesn't want to do surgery unless there's no avoiding it but it certainly sounds like you're at that point of "must do." Maybe a second opinion is in order?
Hang in there to all!!!

Gwen - sorry DS2 is having such a hard time. Hope you get the green light to get those out soon!
Renee - I don't have a daily countdown (yet). Maybe we should make a calendar?
So we've been struggling with getting DS to get his homework, assigned reading and piano practice in everyday along with the rest of life. Last night we went to pumpkin patch and then Target shopping. By the time we got home it was bedtime routine time so no piano practice. We decided to have him practice now in the morning. He calls it one of his "morning chores" along with feeding the cat, brushing teeth and getting dressed. I hope this will work. His bus doesn't come until 8:40a so he usually has plenty of time in the morning.
