Hearing about the recent earthquakes in Japan and Ohio got me thinking...I wonder what it would be like to feel an earthquake! I never have, but I know I would be FREAKING out!!

Yep!! I was an exchange student in Japan and had just arrived in the country when one night I woke up and everything was vibrating--the walls, the floor. It felt like ... if you're very close when a train goes by. There was also an earthquake one day when I was at school. It started, everyone kind of stops what their doing, listens, and holds their breath .... and then when it passes uneventfully, there's a huge sigh of relief like, "Phew, that was just a little one."

Yes, Irish ... especially after seeing the big quake/tsunami last year, it makes me very, very grateful that I wasn't caught up in 'a big one.'

I haven't. My younger brother was in Costa Rica 3 years ago in January for his MBA program at the U and there was a major earthquake. My mom was freaking out because she couldn't get ahold of my brother. I read an article about the earthquake in the Strib online and one of the students in my brother's group had said they were all safe. Because their classroom and dorms were affected they went hiking for a couple days until things were repaired.
