It was a VERY action packed adventure thriller that kept the kids's interest... while I do have to say it's not geared for younger than 7 (depending on your movie tolerance/ if your kids are afraid of sword fights and that sort of thing)...
Please be aware that one of the main charachters is a drunk...which DS actually took as he drank poison... I guess it would of helped if he could read (fully) since the liquid in question was "medicinal spirits"... but there are plenty of other bottles of wiskey and other drunk subjectlines, which is kinda a throwback to the times in which the movie is based... (late 40's/50's?)
DS also didn't like the all the flashbacks... which I thought was odd since it was pretty imparative to the telling of the story... and the flash backs had pirates which he's usually pretty jazzed about.
It was a good movie for adults to enjoy with their kids, and I think that it's kind of important for you to be able to tell them about their misinterpretations (like the medicinal spirit's thing)so no plopping the kids down to watch and walking away (if your renting)...
it did open itself up to a sequel and honestly I can see it already, this will be a hit no question... this flick will be owner once it comes out to DVD!

I wasn't able to attend, but, my in-laws did bring DS to it. The only thing I was able to get out of him was he loved the movie and he loved the crashing, smashing cranes.
It was a hit. DS is almost 7.

I'd love to know how many people didn't get in. Seems like they way overbooked.

I think they WAAAAY overbooked too. There was still a huuuge line when we got there and I called Vic to see where she was, and she said they were already IN the theater seated, and it was FULL.

They always over book the previews! That's why we always say to arrive at least an hour to 1 1/2 hours before. I should note that when Cindy and I got there an hour before that is the longest we have ever seen the line for a movie we gave passes away for!
