Little baby Jason is on his way soon I'm hoping he'll stay in until after Christmas but once Christmas is done I want him OUT! Just seeing what ways to induce labor worked for any of you ladies or maybe someone you know? Any and all ideas are welcome! TIA ladies

Sorry I can't really help with this one. Both my boys where 6-7 days late. With my first I remember feeling a slight roll in my side and unsure if it was contractions. I remember looking down at my stomach and saying "Nope, I'm done you are not playing games with me it is time to come out!" The contractions where still pretty spaced but my water broke a half hour after I went into the hospital.
With DS2 my labor was induced.
I have heard that walking and sex help induce labor....never worked for me but who knows.

I had my final doctors appt. on my duedate with P, and She laid me down flat and buzzed him with this little buzzer thing (kind of looked and felt like a lint buzzer)... and that mustve pissed him off enough because I went into labor that night lol I actually had my first real contractions just a couple hours after the buzzing! If you ask your doc, I'm sure they'd know what Im talking about!! other than that.. just walk walk walk walk walk!!!

I had a couple of people tell me to do the following but neither worked for me!! But just for fun ... my coworker told me that his wife was overdue and cranky, and she was walking down the stairs and said with each step, "I want this baby out NOW!" and the "now" was accompanied with a jump down the final stair -- her water broke and off they zipped to the hospital.
My cousin told me to eat a soft serve DQ ice cream cone and onion rings. Apparently it made her feel ill / gave her indigestion and induced labor. I tried it and it wasn't easy to snarf it down, and no, it didn't induce labor.
But those are my funny "tips" that people gave me, to no avail!!

Really the only thing to induce labor is a pitocin type hormone. You can get a natural form through nipple stimulation and very small amounts from having an orgasm. I have heard foot massages and pressure point stimulation can help since they release chemicals as well :-) However all that being said and known you absolutely will not go into full blown labor if not ready. Do not make the mistake of getting a couple good hours of contractions and leaving for the hospital only to have them stop....the last thing you want is synthetic pitocin through induction if it isn't necessary.

With #1 I was induced at the hospital, with #2 I went into labor the day after taking my dd trick-or-treating. I think all the walking got him worked up, he was EARLY!! I had a doctor's appt that morning and she said she'd see me next week (not showing any signs of delivery) ... well she saw me that night instead.

Both DD and DS came 2.3 or so weeks later. It was very hard -- especially the last three days before their birth. I did wonder if I would be the first woman on earth whose baby just would not come out I have a poem I read over and over again to find peace, as well as Psalm 139. Here is the poem: Waiting -by Robin Jones Gunn Dear Baby, here beneath my heart, I thought that you might come today; The timing seemed just right. But the stars are out And the moon is high And sheepishly I wonder why I try to arrange the plans Of God. For now I know You will not come Until the One who holds eternity Rustles your soft cocoon And whispers in tones that I will not hear, “It’s time, precious gift.” “Now it’s time."

2 weeks late Eliza? Sheesh I bet you wanted those babies out! I was induced a week and a half early because my blood pressure shot up.
I've heard that walking a lot and sex helps!

I've heard making an appointment to induce labor at the hospital can induce labor;-) or even talking about it with your doctor. I had the talk with my DD #1 and went into labor before it was needed. Can't say the same for DS #2, he was a week late and I had to be induced. I don't know if I could deal with your situation, being so over being pregnant and trying to have the baby before the end of the year for the tax break in 2011:-) Best of luck!

I've heard walking, sex (with orgasm), and spicy foods. since I am small my doc induced me within a week after my due date ( actually the day after due date) with DD and with DS I got DD to school and was having contractions 5 minutes apart 5 minutes later. (apparently I was having them for several weeks and couldn't feel them so was on bedrest). Got to hospital within hour of contractions and they broke my water and gave my gas to knock me out for c-sections (both kids have the cord around their neck so heart rate doing weird stuff)

I was induced a week late with both my girls so I'm sure I'm not much help. But I think all the walking I did a week before DD2 was born helped things....I had back pain for a few days and it must have been back labor because I went to the hospital to be induced and I was told I was at a 4 and already having contractions...had no clue lol! My cousin thought something was funny because I was complaining about my back a whole lot that week!

I've heard walking, doing squats, eating spicy food, rocking in a rocking chair. I tried all of them but none worked - I was induced with both DD's.

I think that if any of the natural induction stuff works, it is a coincidence. I was doing laps at MOA everyday for a week and still no full blown labor. Didn't try sex, DH was too timid, but I was dilated to 4 at 35 weeks. Dr just broke my water to induce DD2. With DD1, again, nothing worked, she was induced 2 days before my due date.
