My DD is 4 and really, really wants to take ballet. I told her not until she passes her current swim level (3) and can swim 100 meters.
The question, though, is any recommendations for a ballet school in the Minneapolis/North Metro area?

If you want to get her into dance shouldn't you get her in now? I know my dd goes from Sep - May or Oct - June and then they do a recitial. She is learning Ballet & Tap. I am not in the mpls area so I don't have any recommendations for you.

I agree with Mickey! Most dance studios run Sept-May and then do a recital. My DDs dance at PS Dance in Elk River but that's probably too far for you. We love it there!

Check out Out On A Limb dance studio. It's in Roseville. DD went there for a while, before she got sick of wearing a tutu lol, but she really did love it. The teachers are great, they do fun things, and learn A LOT. She did ballet and tap, then as they get older they move into different types of dance like jazz and hip-hop. here's the website: www.outonalimbdance.org/

We loved Larkin Dance Studio when my DD had an interest in Dance. They do very basic up to national competitions. Good luck!

I had my DD take ballet though our city park and rec department. It allowed her to try it out with out costing an arm and a leg. I was shocked at not only how expensive dance was but how serious. This was perfect for us because my DD didn't like it, I was the same way as a kid.

Check your community education program or parks & rec. Sometimes they have short-term classes.

Check out the Brooklyn Park Recreation and Parks. My kids took dance there for years and we really enjoyed it. Not competition dancing - just for fun. They have a recital in the spring and the costumes are really inexpensive (compared to dance studios). I'd say start her out in something like this to see if she even likes it. Then move to a dance studio if she really likes it.
