I tried to teach myself to knit when I was pregnant, but I didn't get too far. I have huge knitting needles, yarn, and a beginner book that came with a starting kit, but I don't think it will be enough to get me in to knitting. I tried yesterday to just start and got frustrated very quickly.
Any help, tips, suggestions? I think I saw a sign for a knitting class at Joanne's fabric store, but really don't want to pay more money right now.
Thank you in advance

Have you tried looking up how to do it on you tube? It helps me out a lot with sewing and crocheting.

I can cast on and do a straight knit. That's the extent of my ability. As long as you need a long piece of knit, I can do it! It's hard to explain though online though.

oooh, ooooh, ooh... I finally got my iPad to play a video teaching how to cast with one needle. I got it, I know how to do that. Now ds is in school, I have my cup of coffee, dh is gone, I want to learn what's next and now I can't get you tube videos to play again, and the other websites say I need to install a program but the iPad won't allow it. bummer. Guess I have to go clean until dh gets back with the laptop. I miss my desktop, I don't care what anyone says, an iPad is NO substitute for a computer

Oh my goodness, I did it. I found you tube knitting videos and I knitted a scarf in just four days. ds who is six said he wanted a green scarf, I was only knitting for practice but ended up turning it into a scarf for ds to wear this morning. Yay for me
