What lotions and bath soaps do you use?
DD3 gets a rash all over her back and belly after EVERY bath but it only lasts a day and doesn't really bother her. I have switched from Johnson & Johnson's to Aveeno but she still gets it. I'm pretty sure it's eczema. She also gets spots where her clothes rub against her skin on her ankles and wrists. The Dr said to not use any soaps at all but she has terrible cradle cap so I need to wash the baby oil out of her hair so that's all I have been doing. Should I also try washing her clothes in a detergent that's free of all scents? Thanks for the feedback!

I've had to use the perfume free detergent for DD's clothes her whole life. Try it, Lil. You never know!

All free & clear. It is a white bottle (jug). It is even dermatologist tested. We've been using it since my ds was maybe 2. Ds has sensitive skin. The other thing I reccomend it Cortaid. I love it. It is in a tube and it is suppose to work for 12 hours at a time. We also use the Bounce dermatologist tested dryer sheets. Our other problem is ds doesn't like lotions on either. ANd believe me when I say we have tried SEVERAL lotions.

DD has had eczema on her arms pretty much her whole life and our doctor always said that if it doesn't bother her then to not really worry about it.

Did the Doc prescribe a lotion? DS got a patch when he was about a year and it hasn't showed up in about a year as well. We used Eucerin www.eucerinus.com/products/aquaphor/aquaphor-baby-gentle-wash-and-shampoo.html when he had it and it was gone. He now uses CA baby or Aveda since he is older and we havn;t seen any patches for a while. I would def. recommend switching to a free clear detergent. We did Dreft but that can be spendy but I heard tide free and clear works great.

Thanks! The Doc just wanted us to keep an eye on it but I will bring it up again at her next appt. I did get some Aquaphor lotion when I got the Aveeno. I will try that next. I've only been bathing her once a week which helps too. Picked up some Tide Free today too.

B had eczema as well - still does, but only on his face, of all places. We used Tide Free, which helped, and still only bathe once a week or his skin gets SO dry. Aquaphor and Cetaphil (sp?) worked for us, as well as the Aveeno soap that says something about eczema on the bottle. If it gets bad and bothers her, you can use 1% hydrocortisone cream, if ok'd by your doctor. Put on a thin layer and cover it with a layer of aquaphor. Did you know cradle cap and eczema are related? I had no idea. I also didn't know that I had eczema until B had it! Olive oil worked best for cradle cap for us.

I did not know cradle cap and eczema were related! She has it far worse than my other 2 had it. Interesting! I will give the olive oil a try too.

Spending the day tomorrow rewashing all her clothes! SIL is a nurse and saw her rash this weekend. Since it was only where her diaper wasn't she's pretty sure it's a reaction to the laundry detergent. If it was her soap or lotion it would be head to toe.

My yds has terrible eczema and we discovered it is triggered by synthetic fibers or anything scratchy especially wool and polyester.

Using the Tide Free or Dreft seems to make a difference. After her last bath her rash was very minor and only lasted half a day! I forgot to take out the Bounce dryer bar.......do they make scent free dryer sheets? It's not eczema since it's not patching and scaly. It looks more like heat rash but only on her torso. She has pretty fair skin too compared to my other DDs.

Yea! I know Target has 2 or so brands with a unscented sheet. We never used dryer sheets as we used dryer balls but I did pick up a Dreft dryer sheet box at BRUS just in case we needed it for our clothes in the winter.

Cool Thanks Love! I did see on Pinterest how to make your own dryer balls so I might give that a try too.

My son had exzema on the inside of this elbows and knees and neck, anywhere where skin rubbed together. We used Gentle Naturals baby exzema cream after every bath. It has Winnie the Pooh on it. It worked really well.
