Top Foods that help toddlers sleep I found this in my new Sams Club catalog!! 1. bananas - the body converts bananas into serotonin and melatonin hormones that promote sleep... also contains magnesium which helps naturally relax muscles 2. oatmeal - rich in vitamin B6 which increases serotonin levels, improving the chances of a deep sleep 3. Honey - (only after a year old) - added to warm milk it deactivates a neurotransmitter called orexin that produces alertness. 4. warm milk alone - contains tryptophan, which can be a natural sedative - the calcium helps aid the tryptophan. So I say, banana oatmeal with some warm milk and a teaspoon of honey added to it should help any toddler sleep lol

This list is great! My girls each had a banana last night before bed, and sometimes when we're out late and get to dinner close to bed time I make them oatmeal for a quick meal. Now I don't feel so guilty about it!

Also, plain potatoes. i don't remember what it is about them, but they help you fall asleep faster and longer.

Does this work for adults, too? I'm having a heck of a time!

It should.. I had RLS really bad at one point in my life and my doc always told me bananas and gatorade before bed would help relax all the muscles in my legs... something about the potassium and electrolytes working together!
