Ingredients: 1 16 oz can of chickpeas or garbanzo beans 1/4 cup liquid from can of chickpeas 3-5 tablespoons lemon juice (depending on taste) 1 1/2 tablespoons tahini 2 cloves garlic, crushed 1/2 teaspoon salt 2 tablespoons olive oil
Preparation: Drain chickpeas and set aside liquid from can. Combine remaining ingredients in blender or food processor. Add 1/4 cup of liquid from chickpeas. Blend for 3-5 minutes on low until thoroughly mixed and smooth.
Place in serving bowl, and create a shallow well in the center of the hummus.
Add a small amount (1-2 tablespoons) of olive oil in the well. Garnish with parsley (optional).
Serve immediately with fresh, warm or toasted pita bread, or cover and refrigerate.

I made this last night except I added a tablespoon of hot sauce to mine and it is SO tasty!
I also made my own tahini because I couldn't buy it at Cub and didn't want to drive to the whole foods store lol

I think you can find it in the Asian grocery section of some stores.

I looked in the asian section at cub and they didn't have it. But it was super easy to make. You just take a cup of sesame seeds and toast them on the stove for about 10 minutes, then you throw them in a food processor (or a magic bullet in my case) with 1/2 cup of olive oil until creamy.

Tahini is middle eastern - a hallal market would likely have it, or the Jewish section. The co-op has it with the nut butters.
Love making hummus. It's so easy and cheap and just so good. I think my recipe is much the same. I like to smear it on a platter, drizzle a little extra olive oil over the top, and sprinkle with paprika. Adding olives on top can be good too.
Or I love to chop cucumber, cauliflower and tomatoes into an Israeli salad and then top with hummus. Felafel is good on there too of course.
Yum. Next time my wife has a meeting...

Yes! I love tomatoes, cucumbers & hummus. Sooo good! One of the recipes I read suggested sprinkling paprika on top but I didn't want to add too much extra stuff or I knew Mike wouldn't try it lol
