Anyone else going nutso without snow? It's hard for me to find ways to get my kids outside to play when it's cold out and there's no snow to play in!! On the nice days we've hit the playground or gone for a nature walk. I need to brainstorm some more ideas though ... maybe play tag, soccer, or SOMETHING outside. Anyone have more ideas for cold-weather snowless fun???

I want it to snow 6+ inches, we'll dig out, and then have a couple of clear weeks. I just need a good "base" of snow so my kids can play (and I can snow shoe)!

DS is so sad about no snow....he ran around at a friend's bday party this weekend and burned off some energy, but he keeps wanting to play outside (and keeps talking about snow). I think we'll hit the indoor playground and maybe the pool this week just to expend some energy.

YES! DS is only 1, but likes sledding and playing outside. I just plain love snow! This winter is sooo weird.

If it is decent we will bundle up and go for a wagon ride. Blow bubbles outside. We luckily still have a huge snow mound at our house so it is able to be a hill.

I could care less if we get any snow this winter. However, my kids are madder then all heck! They where all upset after xmas telling me that winter was over and they didn't get any snow. LOL I had to explain to them that winter wasn't over when xmas was and we live in MN eventually we are getting snow!

Nope sorry! I am quite the opposite and happy as a clam! I despise winter...the first opportunity I get to move away from here I am taking it! I don't bring my kids to play in the snow so they don't care either.

I don't prefer winter but at this point I NEED it for DS! He is soooo antsy to get outside and play in some snow! The one little bit of snow we did have he loved making snow angels and helping shovel the driveway.

I am happy about the lack of snow, it has allowed me to put off getting tires for my car. My tires are bald and I can't afford new ones till we get our tax return. I am also grateful for the warm weather. My baby HATES the car seat, so when the weather is warm enough, I can take her out and put her in the sling and carry her around.
It can snow after I get new tires so DD1 can play in it. Though I do wonder if you stand outside and watch your kids, or let them out alone? DD1 is 4 and we have a small yard and not many windows that look on it. I don't trust her alone too much because she wandered off last summer before we moved.

I'm happy I didn't end up buying snow boots for myself or sleds for the girls though. What a waste of money that would have been this year...by the time it snows big (if it does) everything will be on clearance lol!

Healer, as far as my kids playing outside - I'm usually with them. However, the last month or so I've been giving them a little bit more leeway. They're 7 and 4, and I'll let them play on the deck (right outside the back door where I can see them) or in a certain part of the back yard where they're visible. However, if they're in the front yard or sides of the house an adult must be with them ... even though we live in a safe area I'm protective and want to be able to see them at all times.
