I like the nutrition counter and the ability to blog my thoughts and get good responses on them. There are reports that give me several different things I can see daily, such as my nutrition and if I did it right that day/week, my weight tracker which gives me the line that is the goal line and the actual weight lost line (which is under the goal line on my tracker right now!), and my measurements that show me that I'm losing inches also. I made sure to make a SparkPage where other people can comment and see pictures. I've also been putting up new pictures of myself monthly to see the progress. You'll get out of it what you put into it.
Take your time to look through the site, it takes a week or two to figure out the majority of things on there.
Congratulations on losing those 12 pounds! Keep it up!

Lol Vic, I gained a step tracker this year, it came with my XBox with Kinect bundle that I bought at Target. It was a surprise extra I wasn't expecting. It helps to get me moving because I hate seeing only 2000 steps in a day. I'm aiming for 6000 steps at the moment, but so far my highest amount of steps was over 13,000 steps one day! It's the Fitbit Ultra and it tracks not only steps, but floors I climb and how well I sleep. I'm enjoying it so far and I've only been using it for a couple of weeks. It certainly helps remind me I need to get moving and not just sit and play on the computer (which I am used to doing, darn addictive websites!).

You have to be honest with yourself for it to work. When you start hiding things (like not tracking everything you eat) from yourself then it doesn't work. Friend me and I'll support you as best I can!
I joined the YMCA this week to up my exercise. Went to a yoga class tonight and really enjoyed it even though I couldn't do all of it.

Ok. I just joined this program on Saturday. Maybe joining up right before Easter feast time was NOT the best idea??? UGH. But although this is only day 3 for me it is a good reminder ... for example, I made sure to bring to work a HEALTHY snack for once so that I won't buy a junkie snack today.
My goal is to lose a few pounds, so theoretically it shouldn't be TERRIBLE. I was going to wait and do it before my high school reunion this summer, then figured -- why wait? Swimsuit season will soon be here so if I need to lose a few pounds I may as well work on it now rather than later!!! Am I right? The down side is that this is the first "diet" I've been on in my entire life and I'm just bummed out that I need to go to such effort. But these three pounds have been hangin' around for too long and it's time for them to GO!! My best friend recommended it, she's had great success, and then I remembered seeing you guys chatting about it as well. So ... here goes!!

And you're right, it definitely opened my eyes to how many calories are in certain things. Like, my favorite breakfast is yogurt with granola. MAN that granola is SO high in calories! Today I still had it but added a fraction of the granola that I used to eat. Little steps are still progress!! Speaking of which, anybody have recommendations for favorite crunchy things to add to yogurt in lieu of granola?

It certainly helps you to know what you're doing wrong in your normal diet. I find it to be a good educational tool.
Try looking at some of the recipes there to find different crunchy things. Does a different type of cereal work for the granola? Perhaps some Grape Nuts? I haven't looked at the nutritional facts on it so I wouldn't know how those compare.

Good idea. I put the app on my phone and have entered some of my favorite/ typical foods, but I haven't been on the website that much. I'll have to look on there for ideas -- I'm not a fan of Grape Nuts plain but those would be a good healthy option in yogurt. Thanks!

I tracked well on Spark people all last week until Friday and the rest of the weekend. It was hectic with family and holidays....but I still lost 2 lbs!
I like Kashi Go Lean Crunch in my yogurt it is 190 cal in 1 c. but has a ton of protein and keeps me fuller longer and you don't really need a whole cup.
My favorite low cal breakfast has been 1 egg white fried with Thomas' English Muffin triple health and a sprinkling (1/8 c.) cheese. it is 161 calories and keeps me full. I add an apple too.

Wow, Cake maker, that is FABULOUS!! You too Dara. Thanks for the granola suggestion -- which is funny because I googled options yesterday and earlier today bought Kashi Go Lean while grocery shopping. I too am impressed that you were able to be disciplined and lose TWO pounds during a holiday week!
