Today's Star Tribune has a great article about a couple of teachers who are adopting Finnish-style teaching methods in their school. The kids do a lot of physical activity while they learn. I found it to be very interesting. Here's an excerpt: "Students spend only four or five hours in school, do a lot of outside play and get little if any homework. Yet they still produce among the highest test scores in the world, equal to those of students from China, South Korea or Singapore." How cool is that? This is awesome! Someone I work with was telling me recently about education in Finland and how great their schools are. Interesting how much of this flies in the face of how things are done in this country.
