Hiya, What are some things that you ladies brought in your Labor and Delivery bag to the hospital that was a lifesaver? I have mine packed, but I keep thinking of things that I might want to bring, any suggestions? CW

I never used anything that I had packed in my labor and delivery bags. The hospital had radios, fans, and ice chips. I had my doula with for DD1, DH took care of the pain of back labor when I had DD2 and I had DD3 at home. When I labor I focus on my self and focus inward so I don't really do much interacting with those around me. With my labors for DD1 and DD2 I wasn't in the hospital for very long before giving birth, anyway- just a couple of hours each- so there wasn't a lot of time for my support group to get too bored.

I didn't use anything either. The only things I was happy to have were my own pillow and DH. Other than clothes to go home in and clothes for the baby to wear home, I don't think must got used in my bag. Music & TV bothered me.

lol I didn't use anything either other than the camera and going home clothes for me and baby. I brought a blanket and my husband went home to get my favorite stuffed animal. I couldn't focus on snacks, magazines, my phone, hand held games, music etc.. I was just glad that my hubby my mom and aunt were there to get me through the pain. I didn't use any of my own toiletries either... just the hospitals (minus my hairbrush). hubby brought his work laptop.... but I'm packing light for this next one!

Are we talking about a specific bag for labor and delivery or are we talking about a hospital bag for recovery? I packed both. Never used anything in the labor delivery bag. In the hospital bag I had two nightgowns and a robe, slippers, blanket and pillow, clothes to wear home, clothes for the baby to wear home, travel size shampoo and conditioner, hairbrush and comb, makeup, glasses, contact stuff, toothpaste and toothbrush, phone charger, my own Tylenol and Phillips.

I packed a lot of things that I never used....magazines, DVDs, computer (used that after delivery - the next day). by the time I was at the hospital my contractions were right on top of each other so I was only focused on breathing and being calm, once I had the epidural I spent time resting and talking to DH & my parents.
I liked having the computer the next day and sent my mom home for the boppy, but otherwise didn't need much from home.

My robe, slippers and pillow from home! Oh and pony holders for my long hair. Anything else I needed they had there or DH got it for me.

Toiletries, a couple of comfy shirts and my phone and my tablet is really all I used. I brought a couple receiving blankets to wrap my baby in so that our cat could get used to her smell, this is recommended for dogs as well. Oh I bought a surprise for DD1 to keep her occupied there as well.
For l & d, I was so focused on pain management, I really didn't care about anything else. I internalized the pain (which I didn't feel till 8cm).

I brought a cute outfit for baby to wear right away (so she'd look cute for pictures -- we bought a bright colored onesie and matching hat, very cute), comfy recovery clothes for me, a Boppy to help make nursing comfortable, camera of course, list of people to contact after baby was born, with DD1 we had a book of names because we hadn't decided on names and didn't know the gender! And of course toiletries and all of that stuff. Some Pure Lan in case of soreness if nursing.

I packed the toiletries, which I used. I had clothes to go home in and clothes for baby. A boppy pillow, and a deck of cards, we are a card playing couple.
I had my own gown, robe and socks for 2nd child, but got blood all over them and had to change them and they sat there for a day. I just used there gowns so I didn't have to worry about them with my last.
My packing skills are to pack to much, because better to be extra ready then not to have what you want.

Thanks! I forgot my bag with the first one. I was in labor from 1am until 4pm the next day. Then my husband went home to sleep and didn't come back til 3 the next day with the bag. So it was almost 3 days without deodorant. EWWW! Also, my son was in the NICU and I had to stay an extra day. I wish I would have brought my own clothes, those gowns were horrid! So I packed black pants and nursing shirts, and an outfit home. I am making sure I bring my toothbrush and deodorant!! And cell phone charger!!
