I have been a SAHM for roughly 5 years now. My plan or goal is to go back to work this fall when my dd is in kindergarten in the pm. The reason she is going in th epm is b/c there is bussing in the pm & it doesn't cost us anything. If she goes in the morning then I have to drive her.
I want to go work for the school district so that I am off when my kids are. I wish to do para work or in the kitchen or lunchroom or kids co.
Can anyone give me some pointers for going back to work? I have been volunteering.
I have sent an e-mail to my dd's para, her teacher, my son's teacher to keep their ears open if they hear of any openings for me for this fall. The teachers said they'd keep their eyes & ears open for me if they hear of anything.
Thanks much.
I am thinking of calling or e-mailing the principals of a couple of the schools and giving them and updated resume for them to let them know I am very interested what do you think.

If you keep watch on the schools website they generally have listed if there are job openings and I think the jobs go through the district as opposed to going through the principal. If you know any of the lunch ladies it wouldn't hurt to mention to them that you are looking on the chance that someone is retiring.

I agree with LC! The people who work at the school sometimes have no idea what positions are opening up. I would check the districts website for all that info!

Check the District website they ususally have a heading for Employment, any open positions will be listed there. Also I would recommend checking to see if they have paraprofessional subs. That is another great way to get in.

Here is an update on my progress or plan: I am working on my resume, cover letter. I am working on my application online w/ the school district. I have 7 references. I am looking forward to getting back into the work force.
Please send me positive vibes for my process.

I would check it daily. New openings happen daily and sometimes are only up for one day. I heard the majority of openings for the next year happen in August, so make sure you get on it then, but it doesn't hurt to start looking as soon as summer starts.
