ACNE!!!

This falls more under a "Health & Beauty" category, but does anyone know of a reasonably priced product that treats and prevents breakouts? I am 35 years old and still having breakouts and I'm sick of it! I don't have a lot of disposable income so it needs to be inexpensive. I appreciate any help or I will be an old lady with wrinkles and zits!

I love Proactive but that gets pretty spendy. Right now I use Acne Free. Kinda like a generic Proactive. It works really well for me. You can get it at Target or Walmart.
I also use neutrogena skin-clearing make up. I break out sooo bad when it's hot and I'm wearing make up. So having make up with acne meds in it really helps too.

Proactive was working great for me & Cetaphil. But for some reason lately I've been breaking out a lot and I hate it!

thanks ladies! I was on prescriptions in middle and high school but none since. My breakouts aren't as bad as then, but it's still too much for a woman my age! This summer was terrible for me! I'm going to check out some of these products and cross my fingers! I just need to tell myself that I'm worth spending a little money on

My MIL LOVES Cetaphil! She's 70 something and has the youngest looking skin. I too have had major breakouts lately but that could be to my hormones trying to regulate after having DD3. My forehead has been breaking out in almost a rash kind of like baby acne, LOL! I get too lazy and forget to wash my face sometimes.

I'm a few months shy of 35 yrs old and this last year, I've had horrible breakouts. I think they've been far worse than my teenage years, Stress I suppose? I don't wear a lot of makeup and just use Aveeno face wash and I also use moisturizer every day, but here lately, its been flaring up.

I've been breaking out too. Like crazy. Tried so many different products, but I've found that lately, and I know this may seem gross, but if I just rinse my face with really hot water, it takes care of the problem by itself.
What tends to happen when you wash your skin too much, is that it gets dried out. So then your skin compensates for that by creating oils...which you think are icky and gross...and they are...but so you wash again, dry out face, gets oilier, wash again, and the cycle continues on a bad stream of constantly washing and getting breakouts again. So, just using really hot water and steam, for me, clears out my pores but at the same time doesn't dry out my skin.

A couple other causes of acne are the kind of makeup one uses.....I have found that I can't wear anything but Bare Minerals because everything else causes me to break out. I can't use a lot of the typical brands of moisturizers and especially any with avocado oil in them either for the same reason. I've been using Aubrey Organics for years now with no problems.
Another trigger of acne is our diet. It doesn't necessarily mean one has allergies though the possibility is higher, but it does suggest sensitivities and a change in dietary habits could clear up the problem very quickly.

the only makeup I wear is mascara and lip gloss, and that's not even every day - but the diet theory is interesting and I will check into that. Thanks!

I picked up some Acne Free at Walmart yesterday and this is my first full day using it. I can already see it drying out the blemishes I currently have. I chose to start with this product because it was reasonably priced. I will give it some time and if it doesn't work for me I will try another one recommended here. Crossing my fingers!!

You're not alone, that's for sure. I oftentimes grumble that I should NOT be dealing with breakouts and gray hair at the same time!! GRrrrrr.... :/ BUT ... I second the Cetaphil kudos, that's my favorite face wash.
