ds goes to half day kindergarten; only preschool and half day kindergarten classes at this school. We ordered a class picture, which still hasn't come in yet. On Friday we had yearbook order forms sent home. They are cheap, but really, what can be in a yearbook for kids that go half day, haven't had any concerts, field trips (yet) and who don't even get to go outside to play?
Has anyone ordered a kindergarten yearbook? what should I expect to find in one? I called the school this morning and was told some pictures may haven been taken during class that may be included, but I didn't get a defiant answer. I may order one "just incase" it has something more than just class pictures.

Yes I did! At our school the kids all pass them around and get autographs and I didn't want my child to be the only on without one. The teachers set aside some time for this. I felt the same thing as you at first but after talking to some other parents I decided to get one for her. I'm so glad I did! DD1 loves to look back at all her friends and how much they have grown. Our school does a great job of getting lots of photos from each grade for all the special events they do.

I got yearbooks for my boys in K but they went to an all day every day K class. I get them yearbooks every year. That is something that I never had when I was growing up.

I wouldn't but that is just me only b/c you usually get a class picture and if the teacher takes pictures and you get those at the end of the year in a book that they make in class. My son is currently in 2nd grade and we haven't bought any yearbooks yet. Mostly b/c we don't have the money for it.

I forgot to say my DD was all day every other day for K. Is there someone you know that has an elementary yearbook that you could see?

Our school does yearbooks and I did get one for DD while she was in Kindergarten. They had an autograph day and it was a lot of fun for her. Cost was also only $13 or something like that so it was affordable. I always enjoyed looking back on my friends growing up so didn't think twice.

I do not know anyone who would have a kindergarten yearbook to look at :-(. But it's only $9 and ds has a couple friends on the bus who are not in his class so it might be nice for him to have those pictures for later to check out. I have seen k-5 year books but that is the whole school and not just a half day kindergarten that doesn't hold programs/concerts bc lack of parking for parents. In preschool ds had a Christmas program with lots of singing, it was so cute, it was also a church based preschool next to the YMCA so there was lots of parking. But I am disappointed parents don't get to be invited to anything this year. Are all kindergartens this way or is it just this one?

Our Kindergarten is in the regular elementary school so it is K-5. Parents were able to attend a few things throughout the year.

Our yearbooks are K-5 including the all day, every other day K-ers. Weird they would make a whole different one for just half day. At our school they have different programs for each grade level that we are invited to. This year DD had a Valentine's music program. It was so cute!

Hmmm, now I'm curious. I did order one for dd for preschool because it was only $5 in advance. I am now wondering if it will be just pre-k or if it will be the whole school. I ordered it because of price and the fact that I didn't get to have all of them when I was young and I wish I had.

well ds goes to a school that is only preschool and half day kindergarten, morning and afternoon classes. so it's not like there are other grades in the school and half day having there own yearbook.

Oh that makes more sense then as to why they have a half day only and maybe why there aren't a lot of programs for patents to attend.

there are four maybe five am classes and the same pm classes with approx. 20 kids in each class so there could be more programs for parents to attend. The kids do programs but the parents cannot attend bc limited parking, or so says the school. The kids have holiday parties and a few parents are sked to volunteer but others cannot tag along. bummer

That is such a bummer! Sounds like you haven't been pleased with situations at this school all year. I hope it gets better next year.
