So, my plan w/ Verizon is ending soon...and I'll be switching onto T-Mobile with the hubby. I'm not happy about it as I've been a Verizon customer since before I can even remember, and I love their service, phones, and have never had a problem with them before. So - I'll be shopping for a new phone soon. Anyone out there have a T-Mobile phone they LOOOOOOVE! I don't want to spend a bazillion dollars either, so if it's a free one thats even better TIA!

I do! I don't know the exact name, but it's a Samsung with a pop out QUERTY keyboard. I have been very happy with - it's easy to use and does everything I want. It's not a smart phone, but it doesn't sound like that is what you are looking for if you want cheap or free! This was one or two steps up from their bottom of the line - it was not a ton of money.

Do your research first. There are a lot of new plans out there with OUT contracts so you don't have to be locked in. Tmobile has one with Walmart. DS1 has a virgin mobile plan with unlimited text & web and 300 minutes for $35/month.
I have Tmobile and I just buy the non-contract phones at Target and put my SIM card in it.

Well DH already has a plan he's "locked" into. So I figured let's save the money and just get on that together until it's done. Then we're going back to verizon.

We've been with TMobile for years and very happy. Everything else is so much more expensive and the service is good.

Just make sure you watch what you are leaving behind at Verizon. If you currently have a smart phone with an unlimited data package I would not switch to T-mobile. I understand it is a money saver however Verizon no longer offers unlimited data plans anymore. So when you try to switch back you will be in a limited data plan or stuck paying the overages. We actually had a sales assoicate with Verizon bring all of this to our attention when we were going to go on plan with my parents to save money. It wasn't worth the savings in the end as we would have to pay for a limited data package. Just do all your research before leaving Verizon as there have been a lot of changes since there merge with Mid-West a few years back and a ton of changes since they have all been one under Verizon.

Well that's part of my problem too. I DO have an unlimited data package. But I have the feeling even if I stay with them and get a new phone I won't be able to have that anymore.

Unlimited data through Verizon has been discontinued. If you have it now, it is because they won't make the people that had it get rid of it.
We had a horrible time with T-Mobile. Even though we had them for several years, they treated us like crap. They made us pay out when we left even though DH didn't get cell signal at his office, and calls would drop while I was standing in my apartment. I told them we got bad signal, but they never came to test it like they were supposed to. Plus we knew all sorts of people that got free phones as upgrades through T-Mobile, but when we had a phone that broke or whatever, they wouldn't give us a free phone.
Verizon has been awesome. Signal and customer service wise. I did meet one a-hole, but it was a rep at a store. I had a problem with the brand new phone they shipped me (it was DOA, so a manufacturing defect), I called and they said they'd replace it, and that I could go to a location to fix it. The guy at the first location was a jerk, but the guy at the 2nd was awesome. My phone got replaced and it is awesome now. The 2nd guy even told us how to check to see if it is the phone or an app causing problems.

I'm not extremely crazy about T-Mobile. They have definitely went downhill in the years. However, I do love my MyTouch 4G. It's a great phone for all the things you are looking for. Battery life is decent and they do have unlimited data packages for a reasonable price. Good luck in your search.

We just switched from t mobile to sprint as we both wanted the new iphones. I do not care for tmobile phones so i bought an iphone 3 and dh jailbroke it with our tmobile plan. It worked the same as having a iphone carrier. I'm partial to iphones tho. I'm so glad we switched to sprint now!
