I work for a smaller type company. We have about 24 employees. We are planning a summer picnic for the employees, spouses, and kids. I have been put in charge of planning this shin dig and am kinda at a loss.
What are some good park locations to use for something like this? I would prefer something that doesn't have a lot or any cost associated with it because we employees are paying for all of this out of our own pockets.
Any other ideas you might be able to give me would be really helpful too. Thanks! ;D

When I was working we had our summer picnic at Como.. they have that big covered pavillion that has a kitchen, only can be used if reserved... then you have the ammenities of como.. hte only downside to that, is if you do it on the weekend, it's fend for yourself w/ parking. Another picnic place I really love and has great pavillions (you do have to reserve them) is Island Lake Park, has walking trails, bathrooms, playground and a mini lake or pond to see ducks, fish etc. Not sure how much it is to rent but it is my favorite! It's just off 694 and Victoria Also, Bald Eagle park has a nice picnic pavillion, waterfront, play area with fishing dock and bathrooms... and a boat launch... its off HW61 just past WBL.. another favorite for sure! Good luck! If I were to plan something I'd skip Como and go w/ one of the latter two!

Not sure what part of the cities you are in, but in the north we used to love to go to long lake park-- on west end of hwy 96-- nice beach with lifeguards), pavillion (not sure about rent?) open grass areas for frisbee, etc, lots of walking paths-- maybe check county websites for park locations-- they woud also have amenities and any costs

When I used to have to plan my company picnic, we would usually rent a pavillion through Dakota County, at Lebanon Hills. I don't recall if it was a refundable deposit. We loved it, we would set up games for the kids and adults as well. I wish I still had my file on it and I could provide you with more information. I know if you go to Dakota County Parks there is information there.

I agree with Sarah, como is a great place. a lot of parks you can reserve pavillions for certain amounts of time at no cost. maybe look around your work location and see what you have available for nice parks around there.

Central Park in Roseville has lots of great places for picnics, you do have to rent the pavilions. Depending on the day of the week will affect the cost.

central park.. I agree; another good one.. depending on which "side" of the park you are at, you'll be close to a fishing dock, a volleyball court I think and the nature center is right up the road...

There is also a pavilion in Central Park off of Dale by the athletic fields

I don't really think Como will work out I think we are looking for a place more mellow than that. I do like all the other ideas and will have to check them out online. Thanks for the ideas!
