I am thinking of surprising my ds on his birthday to have lunch w/ him. I have never done this b4. I think a few of you have done lunch w/ your child b4. I know the procedure w/ our school district for lunch w/ the school district.
Did you bring one thing to eat or a normal lunch for yourself to eat w/ your child? Did your child know you were coming? If they didn't know were they surprised? Did you take pictures?
Do you that had lunch w/ your child at school do you have any tips for me?
TIA

I brought my own lunch. For a special treat, I'd pick up McDonald's for us. I didn't take pictures. The kids thought it was great fun until about 4th grade--then it became dorky.

DH had lunch with DD for her birthday this year, it was too hard for me to get out of work. But I know he packed her lunch with a few extra special treats in there and a note from me. DH brought his own lunch to eat there too. No pictures. Maybe next year when I go...DH isn't a picture kinda guy

I've gone and gotten the hot lunch along with my kid. I've had to pay for it, but that's ok. If your kid takes a cold lunch, then pack one for yourself. If it's hot, then go through the line with him. He'll love it.

We usually go in once a month or every other month and have lunch with her. Usually Friday's when DH is off so we can all go together. We bring McD's, Burger King or Subway. We did go through the hot lunch line with her once and just put our meals on her account. No pictures. Be prepared to eat fast! They don't have much time to eat!

You know, I've been meaning to join my first grader for lunch one of these days ... this is a good reminder! She brings lunch from home almost even day (due to food allergies), which is good because as a kid I hated school lunches and do NOT desire to eat one now as an adult if I don't have to!!! Hah!
