Has anyone else seen this at CTC? We were just so moved by it! We are so lucky to live in a town with so much great theater to see, and so much great theater for kids!

The 10 dollar tickets are very hard to get. We tried for Harold and the Purple crayon and they were sold out in under 5 minutes. We ended up buying a season pass. Much less hassle and we get to see many shows!!

These $10 tix have been offered for more than a week at this point, so I don't think they would be as hard to get.

Our pastor mentioned this play in her sermon today. I was very intrigued by it. DS is 4 would it be over his head?

It might be. It says it geared toward 3rd grade and up. That being said our son is in first and totally got it. We did read some background info online. Also there were kids of all ages there.

Looking at the website it does seem a bit over DS's head. I think he would be confused about why it is not okay for the characters to be friends b/c they are of difference races. Even in his small Sunday school class there is a lot of diversity. Out of 8 kids 5 are mixed race or black. It would be hard at almost 4 to understand the play is about history and how things were different in our country years ago.

Yeah, hard to introduce kids to the bad behavior of adults when it's not their experience - and good to enjoy that it's not their experience for a while! We have grappled with that line a bit over the years.

Very true! There will come a time when he will find out some of the ugly truths of our world, but for now I like that he doesn't know the stereotypes and negativity and can live and be in community with people who are different from him and have that be ordinary, everyday life.
