Well, it's getting down there. I will be getting married in 17 days....basking in the Vegas sun in two weeks from today. I will admit that I have gone through my "cold toe" moments...LOL...but really haven't got to the whole foot because I am just so darn excited. Ok, ladies, here is where I would appreciate some suggestions. I want to get my soon to be DH a thoughtful gift. I would love to do something in honor of his dad (who passed away a year ago), so that it is like he is there with us. I'm at a loss. Or any ideas would be appreciated and welcome. Thanks ladies!

If you want to do something in honor of his dad, you could always get a picture and a really nice frame along with something else like a watch or something. Is there a sport, or event, or anything like that his dad really liked doing? You could always base the gift around what his dad enjoyed and put a spin on it that your future hubby will like

My friend incorporated her mom who had passed away a few years before her wedding by using pieces of her wedding gown in the ring bearer's pillow, as a wrap for her flowers, etc. Is there something of DF's dad's that you could re-purpose for the ceremony? DH's mom gave DH his grandpa's wedding band to wear on our wedding day. It didn't fit DH's finger so he put it in his pocket to have close to him. Was there something your DF liked to do with his dad? For instance if they went fishing together you could buy your DF a new fishing pole. If they had a favorite sports team you could get DF cufflinks with the sports team logo or if they love baseball they have cool ones made of baseballs. Check out the website: www.uncommongoods.com

Are you doing a slide show? Could incorporate it that way... put special flowers and an in memory of poem or saying on each table with a pic of dh with his dad...( maybe as a surprise).
Maybe a blessing over dinner with an Imo mentioned too.

Thanks ladies! Isis - I thought about cufflinks. His dad had a passion for clocks and woodworking. We aren't doing any dinner or slideshow. It's pretty non-traditional. We are getting married at a small chapel in Vegas. Twilight (Night time) gazebo wedding.

ooooo how bout some of the Chinese lanterns to light and send off in the sky after your ceremony? They are fairly inexpensive ( try Ltd.com) but Sooo beautiful and would make for some great pictures!!

amazon seems to have the best deal... when you do a search, the best ones are under flying chinese lanterns! I've always wanted to sail some off.. just like in the movie Tangled

I have several aunts that past and at my wedding I had a candle and their picture for each one of them. The person doing the ceremony read something about loved ones that couldn't be there and remembering them on our wedding day and then I lit the candles next to each one of them before the ceremony began.

If his dad was into clocks you can find a clock and have something engraved on it for him.
