It's in Minneapolis. We are seeing a house and the owner said it was. District 1.

Minneapolis is a tricky school city--there are great schools, not as good schools, charter schools, etc. I think you need more information.

The other thing about Minneapolis is that there is a lot of school choice - so you aren't limited to the school you are assigned to by your address. However, the choice process has already happened for the fall. I don't know if there is a chance for exceptions for someone who moves in, but my guess is you would be looking at your default school, or being on a waiting list. I would recommend you call the placement office directly and talk to an actual human being.
Another thing to know about Minneapolis (I knew some families who found this out the hard way ) is that they DO NOT notify you if you do not get any of your choices. You just don't get a letter. So if you don't know other people whose letters are coming and realize you didn't get one, you would have no way of knowing that your child didn't get into any of the schools you request. That won't effect you for this year, since you missed the choice process, but might in future years.
Looking online it looks like District one is ALL of Minneapolis, so the question will be more what is the default school of the address you are looking at.
