I am reaching out for support. I started my grad program this past fall and can hardly believe that in 4 weeks I will be 1/2 way done with classes (this summer will be focused on thesis research, but no classes). I am at the point of burn out though....I just finished my paper for tomorrow night (at 1am - so I guess that is actually tonight). I am tired, work is busy, life is busy, you know the drill.
I am not taking very good care of myself in all of this. Too little sleep, not enough exercise, stress eating, etc. I am just feeling a bit overwhelmed and stressed and could use some encouragement to get me through the next month. It is hard to ask DH for support because he does so much in the child care dept with me in school and my crazy work schedule. It has been great having him work from home, but that has meant less work getting done when I need him to pick up and drop off DS at daycare and I am gone until 10p.
Any words of encouragement, positive thoughts, prayers, whatever are appreciated!

Dara, You came to the right place to ask for support!!! Great to read you finished your paper for tonight’s class!!! After class can you treat yourself to something like a spa/bubblebath at home after ds is in bed, listen to relaxing music, etc, then maybe you'll have a good night sleep, after the relaxing!!! “Keep on Keeping on” … You can do it!!!! This too shall pass… It won’t always be this way... {{{HHHUUUGGGSSS}}} to you!!!! I wish you well…

You can do it! Really. I can't imagine - it must be so hard right now. But I KNOW you are going to be so glad you did this when it's done. You and your family have so much to be proud of.

Also, remember that this situation is a temporary sacrifice for long-term benefits for your family!

I know how hard and stressful it can get and it sounds like you are carrying a way heavily load then I ever did. Take pride in the fact that you made it to the half way mark! That is awesome the finish line is in site!
Maybe you could buy or prepare healthy snacks once a week and store them so they are there for you if you feel the need to stress eat. Like carrot sticks or premaid salads. It can also help boost your energy. I don't have any advice about the exercise because with how packed you are I know the last thing you really want to do is exercise when you finally have the chance to relax.
You can do this good luck sweetie!

Just keep your eyes on the end product! It will be worth it for you to have your degree... for you and your family! If you ever need to get ds out of the house to give dh a break and would like some company, P and I would gladly join... we have a museum pass, and of course Pres loves playgrounds and parks this time of year! And I really want to get to the big zoo to see the farm!! Even on a Sunday... lemme know!

Way to go, Deb! Half way is HUGE! Celebrate these milestones. I think you should get yourself a little cooler like lunchbox and pack cheese sticks, V8 fusion juice, granola bars, nuts, that kind of thing so you have something to sustain your energy. I wish I could help you with the whole not sleeping thing but as everyone else was saying, this is temporary.
Thinking of you, hon!

Thanks ladies!
I need to talk to my supervisor about trying to take some time off work in May so I don't get so overwhelmed. I did that in March and it really helped and then didn't in April which may be the reason I am feeling burned out. I have so much PTO but I feel guilty always asking people to cover my calls when I take off.
I also need to start packing my lunch/snacks ahead of time (at night before bed) that extra 10 min at night will be the difference between having healthy options and getting fast food, if I wait until the morning it never happens. Something always comes up with work phone calls, getting DS ready, etc.
I really appreciate the encouragement.

My sister is in law school and she went down to part time at the law firm she is working at and picked up a second job to make ends meet. Just a thought, but if you can take some time off that would be good. After you are through you will know all your hard work has paid off. Hang in there!
