My nephew was hurt last summer in a freak accident on a family trip w/ all of dh's family together. A bunch of ppl were fishing out on the lake , some of us stayed behind. Well this evening 3 kids were on the dock (nephew, my 2 kids). (Yes, I have talked about this story one other time on this site). Well my son was casting his line and the hook ended up in the nephew's eye. Yes, we know it was purely an accident well the parents forgive our son, but we feel we should do something to or for my BIL such as money or not sure. Me & my dh still feel bad about what happened.
What if anything do you suppose we could or should do?
TIA

I say it was an accident. There's nothing you can do. I know you feel bad, but that's why they call them accidents.

Yes, I know that but we feel we should do something or pay them back somehow.

If anything - offer to cover the medical bills or at least part of them. Accidents are accidents though.

Do what you feel is right.
If you feel like helping out, then help to pay some of the out of pocket costs for the injury that your son caused. It may have been an accident, but it took two to cause this injury.
