I just found out that a co-worker is in the hospital. I don't think I can bring her food, and flowers seem kind of overdone. I was thinking of perhaps swinging by with:
magazines or a book ??
Any advice on an inexpensive but useful gift for someone in the hospital?

magazines are a good choice.. I wouldnt do books unless you are sure she doesn't have an ereader of some kind. just your company would probably be enough! When I was in the hospital recently all I wanted was company.. I couldnt even focus on my TV shows let alone a book or magazine!!

A lot depends on how long the person is in for. Remember if you do balloons that they cannot be latex of any kind due to high latex allergies. When my Gram goes in she likes to have a fuzzy blanket. Hospital blankets never feel enough like the ones at home.
