Hey ladies, As we await DD's arrival, DH and I have been chatting about cloth diapering. My hubby has never changed a diaper before so he agrees that if we cloth or use sposies it doesn't matter. Once I showed him a price difference I had him sold. We may still use disposables for grandparents if they don't want to cloth but we will see. So I have some questions! We are mainly looking for diapers that can be used for multiple sizes. I don't know of this is a good idea or not.. If not, please tell me why, because we are literally clueless on most things cloth! DH would prefer to do disposable liners as well. Does anyone know where the best place is to order cloth diapers? What Is a realistic start up cost, and how many diapers should we have to realistically have enough? Also, this may be a really silly question but of we use disposable liners should we have a sprayer and wet bag? I'm telling you, I'm practically clueless on all of this! Thanks ladies! Any other advice or thoughts or anything are always appreciated

I used bum genius for my dd and loved them. I had about 16 of them. I also had fuzzi bunz only size 1.
I had a 12 prefolds with 6 covers of 2 different sizes. I didn't use prefolds till dd was almost 1. I had about 4 wet bags and I used clothe wipes too.
One place I would go to is Peapods in St Paul. They will help you with all your questions. It's nice to go in and see the diapers and be able to talk to someone.
I bought a lot of mine off of craigslist from people who thought they were going to cloth, but didn't. I also was buying version 2 when they were coming out with 3, so I got some deals on them. I didn't buy used, but did sell them on craigslist.
I bought bioklen to wash them and I used backout to spray on them. I made my own wipe wash which was 2cups of hot water 1T of baby oil and 1T of babywash. I would squirt the solution onto the flannel wipes. I also made my own wipes with paper towels and used the same solution on the wipes.
I loved the pocket diapers the best and I got mine for 12-17.95 each. Just look for the deals!! Good Luck!! LEt me know if you have anymore questions!! After I sold my diapers I only spent around $150 for 2 years of diapers!!

I use softbums and they are for all sizes. They have worked very well for us. We buy the biodegradable lining to go over the insert so when there is poop you just gather it and flush it down the toilet. Best of all if they only pee on the insert you can wash them right with the diapers.
I have no need for a sprayer because of the liners but you should have a wet bag. The diapers will get wet and dirty around the inserts sometimes.

We used Fuzzibunz and they were great. No disposable liners as IMO they don't work as well. We went through a study that was gdiapers with a biodegradable liner and they were great. Fit my son good and he enjoyed them. Start up cost is going to vary depending on what brand you do. Fuzzibunz were near 20 a diaper new. I wouldn't buy used but that is just me. If your using disp. liner I doubt you would need a sprayer. I say the more wetbags the better. One for each room you will be changing her in and the diaper bag. You will also need a cloth diaper detergent as well. Rockin Green was our favorite. I still use it on DS clothes, sheets and towels.

When I was using cloth I started getting some used ones on diaper swappers. Sometimes you can also get 2nds from Bum genius or others. The ones I got from Diaper swappers looked new.
