I want to say this. I wish people would bring there OWN beach/pool toys to the beach and pool! We just spent over 100 bucks on new beach pool toys this summer. No biggie. But last week were were swimming and NOT one day did people we went with brought their own toys. I know stuff comes up and you forget but come on. DS had a whole tub full of toys, he could hardly play with one os his favorite, he kept looking at me like mom im sad . Even his floaty someone took it right off of him. I was peeved. And the parents just think it is okay. Kids take our toys and lose them. I did buy ds a super cool squiter as a reward for sharing his toys and the next day he couldnt even play with it. So annoying. I'm okay with friends playing with them, im not okay with them losing them, breaking them or taking tons out that they wont play with. Easier to lose and im running around like a dork trying to round up the toys! Thanks for letting me vent! I have down sized our bag we bring so we have less to try to prevent this but I feel this is going to be a LONG summer lol!!!

Bummer! I am the mean mom that doesn't let other kids at the pool play with DS's toys. Granted we only bring a few and the kids who are asking are not friends of ours, just strangers.
In your situation I would tell the other kids in front of their parents, "Can you please give such and such toy back to my son? That is his favorite toy and he is being nice enough to share all of his toys with you". I would not tolerate other kids grabbing things off him or taking it out of his hands because I don't tolerate DS doing that to other kids, he can't grab things he has to ask nicely and if they say "no" he has to be okay with tah. Good luck!

Honestly...I would put my foot down on that one. It is not fair for you to pay out the money and then for DS not to get to enjoy them. I mean it is good to share if others share back.
I know for my ECFE group that gets together in the summer. We take turns. One week someone brings a bag of outside toys and snack. Just an idea.

That is tough and I totally hear ya. We've lost so, SO many toys at the pool over the years so I feel your pain! Now we usually just bring a few with us when we go, and it is kind of geeky but I'm either holding them or they're right next to me as we swim because of all of the $ lost to borrowed and then not returned toys.

I hear you!! I just save ice cream buckets and cups from sports games, because then if we lose them it didn't cost me anything. I also use old spoons and measuring cups. I have found it doesn't matter if you talk to people they will still forget or never bring things. One day I only brought 1 bucket and scoop and that changed my friend.
