In our house we have accounts through, Wells Fargo, US Bank, TCF and City County Federal Credit Union. Which one is better, I have nothing bad or good to say about any of these banks.

I suggest looking into your local credit union or small local bank. I had issues with Wells Fargo and haven't heard anything good about TCF.
I bank through The Bank of Elk River.

I'd check a credit union too. I have US Bank only because it's too much work to switch. I've got lots of auto payments set up.
DS uses a credit union and has had no issues.

Wells Fargo is evil.
TCF was good to us for 10+ years but they kept changing their rules and regs for "free" checking in the last few years so we finally ditched them.
I'd suggest going to a local credit union as well.

I have Affinity Plus credit union. Free checking is really free checking. In fact I get 5 bucks a months if I use my Atm card 20 times. Service is excellent. I love the edeposit. I ditched wells Fargo and good riddance. TCF was the worst bank I ever had.

I have been w/ US Bank since age 16....I don't have any complaints. I like having a bigger bank so I can get cash throughout the cities and when I travel from US Bank ATMs w/o fees.

I use City County Credit Union, St. Paul location. (I live in Minneapolis, but keep my account in St. Paul as that is where I opened it.) I really like it!! Only one mistake in all the years I have had my account, and it was fixed right away, professionally and respectfully. Free savings, only have to keep $5.00 in the account to keep all accounts there; free checking; lower interest rate Visa Credit Cards; lower cost for loans; and doesn't have all the fees regular banks have. I tried Wells Fargo last year until they decided to add fees to have a checking account, which started out free. www.cccu.com/default.asp

My issue with Wells Fargo is that I started it in another state. It was supposed to be absolutely free checking. Then they started to add fees that weren't there when I opened the account once the bubble broke. The fees kept adding and that "free" checking account turned into a $6 a month account, and I need every penny I put into the bank. If they didn't start adding those fees to my account and if they actually told me about them before they started to add them so I had the choice before hand, I wouldn't have such an issue with their policies.
The bank I go through now is really absolutely free checking and if I were to -heaven forbid- bounce a check, the fee for that is $8 cheaper than Wells Fargo.

I have had no issues with Wells Fargo (and we have several accounts with them)-- and TCF is evil!!!!!! I was in the hospital for a few weeks with head injury several years ago and didnt notice that I missed a few statements-- turns out, they spontaneously changed my address to Winona (from St. CLoud) and I have never ever lived there-- ended up bouncing a few checks (bad accounting on my part-- charried over wrong amount on one page to the next, but I desposited some large (pay) checks and continued to bounce a few more because they post the withdrawals before the deposits.

Thanks! We live our bank in Ga and will stay with them since most of our banking is done online but will find a credit union up here just in case.
We hate Wells too. Had our mortgage there and they were very difficult to work with when we were forced to short sell and our personal accounts were always a mess with them so no way Jose!!
