I'm trying to plan a weekend road trip. DH won't do camping so that's out of the picture.
What's your favorite weekend travel destination?

DH and I enjoyed a weekend in Taylors Falls/St Croix Falls. We stayed at a hotel on the SCF side of the river.
B&B in Excelsior. It isn't really far but there is lots to see in downtown Excelsior and Wayzata and lake time.
Duluth
Rochester

If I were a millionaire I'd be flying to hawaii for my weekends lol we don't usually go away for just a weekend, but we have gone to Duluth... I would probably do a 3 day weekend at the dells...once I get over my fear of waterparks that is! I'm the kind of person though that would drive up to 12 hours just to stay somewhere for the three days or so... so the possibilities are broad lol

I had thought Mackinaw Island (Michigan) because I went there as a child but DH doesn't want to drive the 9 hours to get there. *pout*
He wants to do the Dells. I don't want to because I wear glasses and you can't wear glasses on the slides (can you?).

why wouldn't you be able to? I doubt they'd tell someone they can't especially if they need them to see! lol

When we went to Orlando, I bought a glasses strap that floats just in case my glasses came off. No one every told me to take them off.

My dad always wore his glasses with a strap on them. The waterpark can't be liable if you lose them, but many people need them to see. We used to go to Noah's Ark in WI Dells every summer and I can't remember them ever getting lost.
Madison would be a fun place to go for a weekend.

Duluth is definitely my favorite "weekend getaway". I have a lot of family up there so I usually stay with them but if you rent a hotel down by canal there is all sorts of stuff to do!

Arrowwood Resort in Alexandria has a water park. It's on a lake so you can rent jet skis, kayaks, water boards, etc.--not sure how expensive those rentals are. The water park is busy in the winter but not so much in the summer since most people are outside. There's a golf course, horse back riding, lots of stuff to do and the drive is only 2 - 2 1/2 from the Metro.
