Anyone know how to become a short call sub teahcher? I think all you need is a 4 yr degree in anything....
I want to make some extra money and I love kids and would just love to sub. Can I do this with a 4 yr degree in business? Is it worth it money wise to put the kids in daycare when I go or does it not pay enough?
If anyone knows anything at all please help! Thanks! :-)

For public schools you have to be a licensed teacher. Or were you thinking preschools?

Well I thought I read you can get a license to short call sub any school, any subject. Perhaps I misunderstood which is why I was asking. The information is varying online.

Tina teaches in public school and her understanding of NCLB is that you have to have a license. But if you have a license you can sub in any subject, not just the one your license is in.
But I'm pretty sure private schools can do what they want. And preschools/ daycares a bachelors in any subject would be enough to sub as an assistant without experience and a head teacher once you had enough hours of experience. But I don't think that would pay enough to pay for daycare for your kids.

She says: You can get a five year if you have completed a teacher preparation program but do not meet the standards or do not want a regular full time teaching license. You can get a two year short call sub license when you have any BA degree when the administrator of the school district or charter school signs a form saying they are having "hardship" in getting subs. This info is at education.state.mn.us/MDE/edexc/licen under apply for new teacher license. She said some districts do have a hard time getting subs so you might find admins who will sign the form.

Thanks a bunch and tell Tina thank you for me! $100 would be sufficient money. I'm going to look into it. I need school experience in order to apply for a masters in counseling later on down the road.

And I know how much teachers and admins appreciate good subs! Where are you located? It wouldn't hurt to contact any private schools in the area too.
