I feel like such a slacker mom! My DD1 is SEVEN and I finally taught her how to tie her shoes. Isn't that sad?? But she's always had velcro and hasn't needed to know. I finally sat down and was like, "OK kid you really need to learn how to tie shoes!! Whether you have tie shoes or not!" She got it in about 10 seconds. But I still feel like a slacker! Geez louise.
So my question is -- did you ever realize you totally missed teaching your kid something or doing something that should have been done earlier? Just curious -- am I the only slacker on here??

I tie both of my kids shoes so they can slip them on and I don't have to worry about them tying them and my kids are 6 and 3. I taught one of my daycare kids who is 6 how to tie his shoes when we were driving back from his school one day.
So I might just be a slacker also.

My DD1 is almost 5 and cannot ride a bike, even with training wheels. We lived in apartments until just before she turned 4, and never really had the cash to get her a bike. she can pedal or steer, not both, and every little thing distracts her.
So, slacker here too.

DD (7) learned one weekend when she was at her dads (she was probably 6 1/2ish when she learned it). she always had slip ons and velcros too so i never worried about it.
i admit it....i'm a slacker lol

I guess it's not something they learn in kindergarten anymore. I guess I'll have to get on top of it before they have to actually tie something. Some of my shoes have velcro on them too.

My DD1 is 8 1/2 and she can't ride her bike without training wheels. DD2 will probably learn before her, she has no fear. Our kindergarten requires no velcro shoes for PE and they learn to tie them by the end of the year.
