Random question...what is your ONE must have that you absolutely look for/need/want in a salon? One of my dreams is to own a salon. I am slowly bringing my notes together and wanted to get an outside look on what people like, want or their must haves in a salon. Whether it's a product, prices, treatment, service, offering beverages, etc. Thank you so much for any input that you give me! Means a lot!

Open later in the evenings!!! I do daycare at home and most days I don't get done til after 5, salons are usually closed about then except the one day a week they stay open late. Most times, for me anyways, that one day they are open late, I can't get a sitter or have something else going on I'd love to see a salon that's open from 12pm to 8pm at least 3-4 days per week, or something like that

a good stylist. I have gone to the same stylist for 10 years now. I would rather get my hair done less often and spend the money on a good cut than go more frequently at a cheaper place.

jrose, funny you said that because I was thinking that too... like how they have it once upon a child... it's a completely enclosed padded rectangle play area... put it right in the midle of the salon so parents could always have an eye on their kiddos lol

Awesome things ladies! jrose, I would never have thought about childcare. Say if there was childcare, would you be offended if it was in a different area (just because I would think there are some people who wouldn't want that...but who wouldn't want to watch adorable kiddos!) I know at Fantastic Sams, they have these little kid chairs that they can drive. My 16 month old does fine in those. Good things to think about! Thanks so much!!!

I LOVE the childcare idea, so many times I have wanted to go in but can't because I don't have someone to watch the kiddos.

I'm assuming different area in the salon? I wouldn't be offended. Just as long as there are strict sign in and out guidelines so there isn't any mistakes or mishaps. Now if it were a different location I wouldn't be as comfortable just in case I was needed! DH has been working a whole lot and I hardly get out by myself except for maybe a morning here or there, it would be nice to be able to go anytime during the day and have something there for my kids to do as well...it could be fun for all!

I was thinking you would be in the same area with the kiddos, but would be in a different area in the salon. :-) Hmmmm....so much to think about it! I love this!

I agree with the above. The three reasons I go to where I go is because A) it has free child care [it's a LifeTime fitness salon so I take the kids to the child care at the gym], B) I finally found a great stylist who knows how to cut curly hair, which I have and C) I can get my brows waxed there too.
