It's sneaky too b/c the commercial starts off just seeming like something harmless and then the people's facies morph into grotesque zombie faces. Had I realized it was going to be scary I would have had him cover his eyes as we had for some other commercials (and as he has every time they have shown it since) but it was sneaky. So cruel.
Aletha Solter's method of using humor to disarm fears has worked before, but I'm not sure how to employ that here. I'll have to think about it.
But it's possible that just naming it and having us empathize has helped. Or that the image is fading from his brain. He did do better last night.

My two and a half year old has seen those commercials... and thinks nothing of it... we watch the show and just tell him they are silly monsters and they aren't real.... so he just kind of laughs at it and shrugs it off.. I cant wait for if to come back on!

Grimm is a great show, I missed most of the season though. However...it is a little too scary to be playing those commercials during the Olympics.

I'm excited for Grimm to start on Monday! DD1 knows they are all fake so it doesn't scare her but DD2 will freak so I just wait until both are in bed so I can watch.

I really can't think of anything that my girls are actually afraid of. Every once in a while they'll decide that there are monsters at night so I made up a "spell" for them to recite: "Monsters away, monsters away, now is not the time to play!" My girls "know" that ghosts can't hurt you, they are just loved ones checking up on us. Anything scary on tv or in stores or whatever is thought of as "Halloween stuff" because they "know" that "people like to be scared, they find it fun." I don't LIKE them to see gorey or scarey things on tv but sometimes they do and it is quickly brushed off as "funny Halloween stuff." At Halloween time we make a point to go to the stores with "scary" displays so that they become desensitized by them. I dont' want them freaking out when we go trick or treating so this way I can say, "Oh, look! That's just like the funny skeleton we saw at the store!"
