Has anyone ever done it? www.geocaching.com/I have been looking into it and thought I'd start doing it. There are supposed to be 3 of them in the park in my backyard so I thought I'd get my bearings in a place I'm familiar. I never thought to look closer at some of the items in my park. Basically they're little to big containers hidden in public areas, mostly parks. They can be as small as a film canister or as big as a shoe box (I think, I haven't seen them yet!). The smallest ones are just logs of people who have signed in, but some of the bigger ones have enough room to exchange items, take one-leave one of similar value. It's like a quest to find the hidden treasure and who doesn't like quests? I know I used to play that kind of pretend game as a kid, so this is kind of like the grownup version, although the kids like playing too. It can be as easy as hiding in a flower bed to off the beaten path. It gives you coordinates that can be as accurate as the hiking gps unit you carry. The easier ones don't need a fancy gps unit, but for the good hikes, you may want to invest in one. I think it sounds like fun and want feedback from people who have done it.

I found 2 out of the three I was looking for. I know what tree the third on is in, I just did not see it.
