What type of back to school events does your child's school host?

Ian's school has a playdate in the park so kids can see each other and parents can meet and talk with teachers and other parents. It's very casual. The PE teacher also leads some games with the kids.
Then they have Curriculum Night which is for parents only and this is when we talk to each teacher and hear about the year, the curriculum, schedule and such.
Then the first day of school there is a special service in the morning for kids to attend with their families before they go off to class.
At the school where I teach we have intake meetings with each family and then an ice cream social where the kids get to play together in the classroom and see who is their class. It's really similar to the playdate Ian's school has, except that it takes place at the school, which I like for our kids b/c they get to actually play in their classroom and get familiar with it a bit.

All we have is an open house. It's just a time to meet the teacher and drop off school supplies.
In Kindergarten it's a separate night and time where you have to be there the whole time. They have a time where the kids go with another school employee while the teacher talks to the parents.

Our school has an open house where kids can find their classroom, meet teachers, see their lockers, and drop off supplies. There's a separate playground/ ice cream social for new students and then one for kindergarteners. Later in September there's a curriculum night for parents.

Just an open house to find out who the teacher is and drop off supplies and final paperwork that we didn't get in beforehand.

They have what they call a Welcome Back picnic. They have dinner in the caffeteria, we meet there teachers, drop off school supplies, and fill out paperwork/lunch applications if neccessary.
