It's no surpise that I'm not a huge fan of my day job but today I'm feeling really down about it. We had a part time worker who shared an office with me and his last day was today. He was younger than me which made him more relateable than others in the department and I knew I could complain to him without it becoming gossip. Like I mentioned, today was his last day and I'm feeling a little lost. To top it off they haven't even posted his position yet to replace him even though he gave his notice back in March. If you ask me I think they're trying to see if we can do without his position and scale back. What they don't seem to remember is that we hired him because we took on an extra half time employee position when his predecessor retired. This just sucks. I'm way more emotional about him leaving than I thought I'd be. I'm super happy for him and his fiance as they head off to Grad School together on the other side of the country but I'm super bummed about losing my partner in crime and the impending workload that entails. *sigh* I just have to suck it up and get done what I can do and let the rest fall the the wayside. But today I think I'll be depressed.

True - I do have my own office again which means I don't have to hear his radio station anymore! LOL Yes, I am still on the hunt but since I just got a growth promotion raise the replacement job really has to be worth the $$ transfer. They're making it difficult for me to afford to leave!

Would you be able to survive off your 3 part time jobs if you were able to open up your days to those who can only do during the day parties?

Hang in there...it will all fall into place. Maybe they haven't posted his position yet because they have bigger plans for you. They did that to my hubby a year ago or so... then ended up putting someone under him, so he became a boss. Ya just never know.

@cake - I've thought about that but the income there is up and down and I'm just not comfortable doing that yet. And - I'm the one who carries the insurance for the family. Ugh.
@sarah - Nice thought... but I think that will be a cold day in hell before that happens. :/

That is hard ... the one person who was your support system there is gone, so of course that will be tough. I say give yourself some time to feel sad and kind of grieve the change. Be kind to yourself, bring in a special treat (yummy chocolate, special coffee drink?) to cheer yourself up, and then give yourself a set day that you'll plan to be done being sad.

I like Renee's suggestion. My best friend at work left in April and I miss her lots. We are still good friends, but I don't get to see her a few times each week (none of us in my job are in the office all the time). She was my go to person with positives and stressful situations. Good luck.

My cube mate recently quit, too. So now I'm all by myself! I get pretty bored and lonely throughout the day, so I know how you're feeling.
I'll keep you in my thoughts, hopefully you'll find something that is comparable in pay and that you really love, soon!

Thank you ladies! I took yesterday off and spent the day back to school shopping with DH and DD. Last night was the free event that I co-sponsored at the Joke Joint Comedy Club and I had so much fun and laughed a lot! I'm so glad I had a mental health day I'm back to the day job today and my boss is gone through the next week so it's just me holding down the fort. This is going to be fun The nice thing about my job is that I have an office with a door. I've closed my door for now so I can focus on work - as soon as I log off of here LOL!
