Ok, so this is just going to be a rant from me. Sorry for the ranting-ness, but I really have to get this off my chest.
So, I've worked for the same company for 3 1/2 years as a graphic designer in the marketing department. Started here fresh out of college as an intern, and never left...yet. 6 months in, they let go of over 80 people (which is a lot when your company is only 200) which included both of my bosses. Which left 3 people in the marketing department. My boss, another dude and myself. We managed to keep it running for over a year until new management came in. Well, here's where the issue started.
Before new management, I was managing all print project, videos, all of our systems, style guides, trademarks, brochures, banners, cd labels, etc. I was able to keep consistency in styles all by myself. No help needed, I'm not a moron. Well, new management came in, decided it was "too much work" and started passing it off on to other people. Since 2 years ago, our marketing team went from 3, to 16. Don't get me wrong, more people is good. BUT, when all of those people are taking away my responsibilities and making it seem as though I'm a moron to my boss, it's a little irritating. So I've had multiple conversations with the new boss man, and told him I can take on more projects and be more versatile. So what does he do? Oh, makes me the CD bitch. Basically when someone requests one off our website, I send it out to them. Thanks. A lot. That's exactly what I was going for. So then I had another conversation asking for more to do. So then he decides ok, we'll give you the job of making sure that all of the systems you get your discs from are loaded with CDs, have stuff to print in them, etc. Basically another "bitch" job. WTF!?!?! I have not worked here for 3 years to be the office bitch. So again, I ask for more. Well, we get a new writer in, doesn't know anything about design, and what does he do? GIVES HIM ALL MY RESPONSIBILITIES! WHAT THE HEEEEEECCCCCK!?!?! So, all in all in the last 3 months I have had all but one project taken from me and given to the "writer". I just don't understand it. It's as though he thinks I'm incompetent, that I don't know how to do my job. Even though for the last 3 1/2 years, I've been able to manage it myself. HR always talks about being able to expand your career here. Well, in my time here my career has NEVER been expanded...it's been depleted. I'd rather them just fire me than have to deal with this day in, and day out. It's so tiring. And to top off the beautifully mastered cake I've just made here, we just acquired another company (we bought them). I don't know what this will do to my job, or how it will affect it, but it's not worth it to me to stick around and find out.
UGH! Anyway, so the hunt is on for a new job. I just can't be here anymore. I'm trying to stay positive while I am here, but I have been brought to tears multiple times within the last few weeks and I just can NOT handle it anymore.
My faith tells me God will show me the way, the truth, the light...etc. I really honestly pray that the job I got a lead on this week is the one, and that within the next few weeks I can walk in to my bosses office and give him the big "EFFFF YOUUUUU!" (not saying exactly that of course lol)
Alright, that was my rant. Thanks ladies. Sorry for the length.

Maybe your boss thinks you're making him look bad. Because if he hires more people, "it expands the department" or something.
Hopefully you'll find a better job where your skills are appreciated.

I've asked for reviews from my boss. Every time we have time scheduled, something else gets in the way. I've been shoved to the side multiple times now from him. His boss, not even worth trying he's so busy. Transfers, no. Headquarters is here. This is the only office we have in the US. If I could transfer to Hong Kong, Singapore, Germany, HECK YEAH...I WOULD! And thanks love for the humbleness reminder I am thankful, just frustrated. Thanks. Love ya vic!

I was getting annoyed with my job too earlier this summer so I looked for a new one... didn't have to look more than one time cus the first interview they hired me on the spot paying me more than I already was. I accepted and put my two weeks in. A week after that my supervisor came in and offered me more than the other place and gave me a bonusbfor staying. He realized it was going to be hard to replace me... so, they won't know what they had until its gone (or at least on their way out the door!) Good luck with the job search!

Yay Navaehs Mom! You GO girl. I feel like in this economy especially, workers have little rights and are told they have to "suck it up" because they're lucky to have a job, there are dozens of people who would love to have your job etc. Which is TRUE but doesn't negate the hard work and dedication of the worker. Know what I mean? Anyway, I'm very excited that you've got a potential new job. GREAT news!! Won't it feel GREAT to give notice that you're leaving?

Wow that really sucks....I have been kinda on the other end of the spectrum. I have been told that I am already doing jobs that where split up between three people that used to be hear. But then we had someone retire and another co-worker died and I was given more work to do. It isn't complicated just time consumming and then boss man asks me if I have been doing such and such lately and how much I have gotten done and I'm like not much there is no time to do it. This is a job that is really low priority and a just when you have a few minutes work on this type of thing that is kina pointless. So he tells me well I need you to do some of those. Are you kidding me. I can only take care of so much in a day.
